Didn't see any mention of the centrifugal clutch system in the discussions of the new Honda 4, 5, & 6.
Still there?
Some folks don't like the system because the motor must be reved up to engage the prop, eliminating the slowest maneuvering speeds possible.
This is also an issue because there's no F-N-R gearshift available, either.
Thus you're left with a neutral or medium forward speed choice. (Swivel for reverse.)

The new models have F-N-R gears and you are thinking of the little 2-2.3hp unit with that simple clutch system.

Just saw them at regional Honda dealer meeting at Lake Lanier , Ga. The big change is compression release for easy starting and a fuel selector [on 5 and 6] so you can use external or internal tank . Also biggest internal tank 1.5L in class . As the Honda folks say "for longer journeys"
No 25" models .

I have that fuel selector (internal tank or external tank) on my Merc 5hp. I think it's a great feature. I can keep the internal tank fuel of known good fuel, and separated from the main system - no hose - but then hook it up as/when needed. I'd look for that on any kicker now, if buying a new one. |
