Pat- Question: Does the little fan on the airhead run 24/7, or just when someone's on board, or ???? Is there any problem from explosive methane (natural gas, a product of bacterial break down as well as found as in mineral deposits) gas build up w/o the fan running? Thanks, Joe. _________________ Sea Wolf, C-Brat #31

Also Pat... do you use the shower regularly and does the wet environment cause a problem at all with your composting toilet? _________________ Michael |

The fan runs 24/7 - the fan has a 12 volt 0.12 amp motor. I also have a Nicro Day/Night 2000 solar vent cap over the vent, works like crazy in the bright sunshine, but the little solar panel just does not keep the Nicad battery charged up all the time. Methane? This thing operates just like a big kitty litter box, I really doubt there is a gas build-up issue...

We have used the shower a couple of times, and the composting toilet is completely sealed - the wet environment would not affect it as far as I can see.
