we are taking delivery of our new 22 in march "C~Pearl" so we have a year to decide on a winter cover. does anyone have the canvas cover from the factory and how do you like it... i don't want to waste money on blue tarps every few years but the canvas custom cover isn't peanuts either. we live in a wooded area and once the boat is home for the duration it is nice to keep debis off. we have done both types of covering for our old boat and did prefer the fitted one... but what size tarp is the best for the 22 if we go that way? cpt vic |

I have used an old Wall Tent (10x20) for several years now! Probably a lot cheaper than a factory boat cover only the bow sticks out of the door area, thats it! if ya can live with that....go for it, ya see cheap sometimes, in the freebee adds...
Wanna see mine... |

We bought a cockpit cover with our 25 and you are right, the custom stuff is expensive. But it was well worth it and we have no regrets. _________________ Michael |

I bought canvas from King...the camper back, bimini, and the cockpit cover...All have been successful. I will be leaving the boat in the water this winter, and the cockpit cover is an easy protection from rain, and easy to access.

I've got both the cockpit (mooring) cover and the King Marine (factory OEM) full cover. The full Sunbrella cover was around $700 plus shipping a year ago and fits like a glove. It's got some sort of lining over the "wear" points, breathes well and doesn't pool water at all. We use the mooring cover most of the time but the full cover does a better job when it rains or if we put it in our storage spot. Several locals have commented on the high quality.

Up here we get a fair amount of snow. For several years now I have used an two A-frame,a ridge pole and a tarp. Steep pitch eliminates the snow stackin up, and with lots of internal air space and allowance front and back for air movement there are no condensation problems.
With the swim step ladder I can jump in the boat anytime I want, either to work on it or close my eyes and make engine noises.
I'll make sure I put a couple pics in the 3rd Byte album. _________________ Mark on Mighty Bite |

I had the full cover from King made for my boot too and really like it. Very well made, and matches the rest of the boat Sunbrella. I also bought a 14x29 metal carport made by Versatube to pull the boat under to make my boat cover last even longer. Just go to www.versatube.com and you can see some examples. They are made very well and are sold at Home Depot and Lowes so the prices are pretty competitive. Just waiting for a few days off with no rain to pour the concrete footings to set it on. |
