I have a c-dory cruiser 25. My engine is a Yamaha four-stroke, just one engine. I am thinking of getting a second prop. I thought I would check to see if anyone has recommendations as to size and pitch that has worked well.

Several pieces of information are necessary: HP of engine. Pitch and diameter of current prop Material of current prop. Where you are gong to be running? Sea Level, Powell or Yellowstone--all require different props.

How is the boat loaded--light day trips--or heavy for a month's trip? ?

How does the current prop perform? WOT RpM and speed.

Do you want stainless or aluminum (forget composite)

05/19/16 Skipper-
While many 'on-line' and 'brick and mortar' marine supply sources sell props, I've found that a reliable and competitive source for excellent prop advice is:
Henry H. Smith and Co, 1880 Fruit Rd., Algonac, Michigan 48001, 1-800-338-8900. They are recommended by West Maine for prop reconditioning, repairs, prop advice, prop use guidelines, specs, etc. They have a 100% Customer Satisfaction Guarantee, etc, and ship anywhere in the US. They have been in business for over 100yrs in the Great Lakes area.
I found myself getting easily confused as to the "physics" of props and reconditioning by the retailers and got quickly 'educated' by the folks at Smith's!

For 'what it's worth'...
