Hi Gypsy, good to see you there
We've launched at Sidney several times at the ramp next to the Anacortes Ferry
It's got a nice dock run by a fishing club, you can get a week pass or several day pass etc at All Bay marine or the other marine stores in Sidney, We'll launch at the Cowichan Bay ramp this year to try it. Blake on C Fury used it last year and it was good
I'm sure there are others but these 2 I know, Ladysmith as you know could also be used
See you there
George

We are new C Dory owners, thusly also newbies to C-Brats. We live in Portland OR, so we are unable to bring our boat up for the get together. However, we would like to meet some new friends, because we are planing on spending a few week this coming summer in the San Juans. Please count us in for Friday and Saturday affairs. We will drive up and stay in a near by motel. If anyone know of a place to stay please advise. We are looking forward to meeting like minded mariners.

It will be great to have another Oregon owner there! Once you are logged in on this site, go up to the event signups link and choose the Friday Harbor event to add yourself to the list so we can plan best.

Many of the boats at Friday Harbor come from out of state so if you have a trailer, I would encourage you to join us by boat. Last year we had 43 boats attending and there are some owners that will be trailering right past you on there way north. This group is very nice and if you would like to trailer up with some company on both road and water, just post it here and I would bet you will find company. There will be plenty of space and amenities are all there. If you are trailerless, or end up coming boatless, the Earthbox Inn has been well liked by a number of folks in the group.

Feel free to ask any questions you might have right here in this thread or send me a PM if you like.

Greg

Braun,

If you have the time available, (and I know, it sounds like a big hassle to trailer up all that way for 2 days), there are some options. Obviously, a local hotel is one. There are several places in FH to stay on land, but be advised, they will fill early. There are also launching options. If you travel up with other CBRATS, they will probably have launch sites already picked. Basically they will be either launching from the east side, and crossing Rosario, or from the south and crossing Juan de Fuca. Either way, you can find someone to buddy boat with if that is your choice.

Addressing the 2-3 day stay at Friday Harbor. There are usually quite a few C-Dorys that are in the area, either before, or/and after the designated C- Brat Get Together (CBGT), and lots of really great places to hang out for a few nights with a good chance of having another C-Dory at the dock or anchorage. There are usually a few mini groups found at places like Jones Is, Stuart Is, Sucia Is, or Blind Bay.

Lots of opportunity if you have the time. As Greg said, if you have questions, this is a good place to get good answers. It's typical to have 40 or so boats there, and they come from all over. All over like California, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Texas, and other places, Canada included. Often times, Friday Harbor is the jump off for an Alaska trip of several months.

If you come up and stay in a land based accommodations, Friday Harbor is pretty small and easy to get around in, well, if you don't mind up the steps and down the hills. It's a pretty nice place to visit.

Hope to see you there,

Harvey

Braun,

I am guessing you don't have a trailer or tow vehicle or something? A fair number of PDX C-Dorys come to Friday Harbor and other Washington CBGTs! Friday Harbor has become the "granddaddy of them all" and we can hardly wait ourselves. Even though we are in Arizona for the winter (you know, suffering the 75 dF wind chill!), Friday Harbor and those great San Juan waters are on our minds every day!

BTW, please consider Bellingham is Back II at Squalicum Harbor, the Hotel Merriwether is right there, and if you tow up, Bellingham has a great ramp and lots of free parking! August 19-21.

Cheers!

Yeah Pat, that 75 degree windchill is probably causing some serious goosebumps. Wink

BTW, that would be the Hotel Bellwhether, not Merriwether. Thumbs Up

Please count TICKET in! Judy & I wouldn't miss it. Thanks for leaping into the breech, and holler if there's anything we can do to help. From this meet, we aim to ease on north to the Broughtons.

Lookin' forward!

Chemanius is good. There will be a couple of boats launching from there for FH.

Hi Martin,

If you are at the city dock there, watch out for that monstrously huge big blue sliding wall, that goes by that dock sometimes, (ie those huge lumber ships.) I have never been that close to, as in nearly under the poop deck on anything that big. I could nearly reach out and touch that rudder and hull from my boat as I was leaving the marina dock. Interesting place, and loved the bakery.
