When I sold our 2004 C-Dory Commuter it had Deckadence flooring in the cockpit. Absolutely loved it....the floor always looked clean and neat. Yep... it was a bit pricy. Well.......when we bought our 25 my wife informed me that the C-Otter was also going to have Deckadence! So here are a few photos of the install. It's all one piece so to get into the bilge area I must roll it back. No big deal for me as I seldom use anything in that area. The piece I had left over landed up it the splash well. Yes...there is dirt under the loop carpet but you do not see it till you are ready to hose it out. Works so well we have ordered a similar but thinner product (3/8 inch) for the cabin. Should be here next week. Decadence is available 6 feet wide the other product 4 feet wide.

Looks good but what makes it so special? I used some cheap outdoor carpeting from the HD and roll it up when we crab/fish etc. _________________ "We can go over there...behind the 'little one'....."

Special.......well.....it is soft to walk on, so far no stains from fish blood, juice, oil or gas that I've spilled. Hooks come out easy. It "breaths" so no mold below. Made out off looped PVC. And most important.....my wife wanted it!
Can't say no to her.....I want her to pay for a new interior for my Cessna!
Do you need it.....no.....but it sure looks and works great!

Black would be hot on a sunny summer day, I tend to go barefoot during the warm months.
Looks nice though. _________________ Roger

The problem is that the smallest size available (5'x6') is ~$350 plus shipping. |

The actual color is a dark grey. I usually wear shoes in the boat so no problem for me. My wife seldom wears shoes and she said it is warm but not hot on her feet. We had it in our 22 and yes it costs about twice what the rubber floor tiles that we replaced. They were falling apart so we had to do something.
Tiles would not work on the 25 because of hatches. Cheep outdoor carpeting will work fine if that's what you want. Wear it out and replace it. No problem.
Once again....different strokes for different folks. That's what is so cool about C-Dorys. Lots of ideas, lots of different uses, lots of fun! A C-Dory can be what you want it to be. I just wanted to present an option.
Thanks Tom |

Tom,
what's your source for the Decadence?
We were considering custom Lonseal (but the stripes go the wrong way) with Cabelas marine carpet with snaps over it, but that looks better.
1/3 of a Boat Unit doesn't seem too bad for something that lasts longer than a fill-up.

John
My supplier was Jims Marine Flooring LLC
Located in the Tampa area. Phone number 727-902-4392
My 6 foot by 7 foot carpet was $656 including tax and shipping
About 2/3 a boat unit. Cost was less for my 22. Don't have that number anymore.
Ssobol may have a supplier that sells for less. Jims is the only one I know.
One other thing that's nice is no snaps. It just stays flat on the floor. I like a clean cockpit floor!

The number I found was from a link on the Marine Flooring dealer search page.
http://performanceunderfoot.com/shop-deckadence/
$383.50 for a 5'x6' piece with shipping. A piece like that will do for a 22 (with some left over).
Seems pretty steep for something that may not last that long -
How long will it last?
This largely depends on use and abuse, but an average of 4 years before a replacement is a consideration. DMF also has a 1 year unconditional wear and tear and UV fade guarantee to boot! |

Ssobol.....the price from your supplier is much lower than I paid. Need to remember that when I need more. Good to have this information.
As far as how long it will last. I'll let you know in a few years. I'm sure it depends how one uses and stores their C-Dory.
Price.....well.....it's worth it to my wife....end of story!
Have a great day.......Tom |

Tom....my impression of you is you like EVERYTHING clean If you had my dogs you'd be buried in mud and hair, not to mention scrap of wood, toys, etc...Like you said "different strokes". It's what makes this such a great forum as you know! congrats on the new to you boat. Now get Joyce down to the keys for some diving......

James.......your dogs are lucky to have you. What's a little mud and sticks between you and your "buddies"!
We will be heading down south in a couple weeks. Plan on attending the Mississippi gathering then off to Lake Lanier in Georgia for a while. After that we will head down to Marathon for some diving! Joyce is really enjoying the C-Otter. Hope you're projects around the house for Betty are coming to an end so you can get the Molly Brown out and spoil your pets. We went to Isle Royal with Hank and Pat with the Meri Aura and had a great adventure. They plan on spending most of the winter cruising Florida including the ICW and Lake Okeechobee. You mite want to join us for part.
