Hi C-Brats,
On January 1st, I make my list of boating goals for the new year. For 2004, I have several cruising destinations on my list that might also be potential C-Brat day cruises or overnight gatherings.
#1. Willapa Bay. We would launch at the city park in Raymond, Wa. and head west on the Willapa River, past the towns of Raymond and South Bend to the marina at Toke Point (Tokeland,Wa.), then return to the ramp. Both raymond and South Bend have waterfront parks with docks, so we could have a lunch break at either town. This cruise would be similar in character to our Snohomish River Delta trip. In this neck of the woods, the workboats outnumber the Bayliners three to one.
#2. Grays Harbor. Launch at the marina at Westport, Wa. and head east to the towns of Hoquiam and Aberdeen (the birthplace of grunge rock). This trip would offer potential side trips up the Hoquiam, Wishkah, and Chehalis rivers. This trip would be a great multi-day gathering as we also have the Pacific Ocean just outside of Westport. This would be an easy trip for Tyboo Mike, he could come by boat with his new 25' Cruise Ship!
#3. LaConner Wa. This destination could be combined with a circumnavigation of Fidalgo Island or a potential side trip up the North Fork of the Skagit River.
Are any of you C-Brats up for exploring more backwaters of Western washington in the New Year?
Best Regards, Leo. _________________ inbetween boats (not including my canoe, kayak, and inflatable) |

Cool, Leo. And a cool idea for presenting it. What say we discuss the plans at the SBS C-Brat Convention? Of course, that would mean you have to be there. _________________ TyBoo Mike

Is the Helen O going to go to the end of the river and turn right for this Willapa Bay gig? |

Nope, the Helen O' is going behind a big ol' Dodge for the trip to Willapa.
Any excursions I make into the big blue will be determined by the conditions (weather & tides), not by a scheduled time. Btdt. |

They all sound enticing! Sounds like good "convention discussion". Bring maps so people can see your planned routes. _________________ Dave S.

We hope to be in the WA area during the month of May. Your trips sound intriguing and we'd love to tag along with you and see more of your part of the world. Any chance of some trips in May? _________________ El and Bill (former live-aboards)

El and Bill,
For the past 2 years we have gathered at the Lopez Islander Resort on Lopez Island for the opening weekend of "boating season". The opening weekend is traditionally the first Saturday of the month of May(which this year will be May 1. Lopez Islander has not charged us any slip fees for that weekend in the past.
I'll be happy to make all of the initial arrangements for that weekend gathering if all are interested.
We rent the recreational room there for a Saturday evening potluck/barbeque. Jon (C'Lou), Catman Brock (Bambina) and Bill (Da Nag) have entertained us in the past with a "raucous" game of ping pong.
The Saturday of the event, we have had as many as 10-12 C-Dorys join in a flotilla cruise through the San Juan Islands. |

Sounds Great! Timing might be a little tight for us coming up after the Lake Powell Gathering the weekend before, but might be possible. To see that Chug-Pong game we'd drive day and night. |
