|
|
Dear All Channel Island Enthusiasts:
Due to continuing and overwhelming demand for this event, and the irresistible draw of Two Harbors, we hereby schedule the 14th Annual Catalina Off-Shore Adventure for Sunday, August 2, 2015 to Saturday, August 8, 2015. Please mark your calendars to reserve these dates. These dates are essentially the same as last year.
Unlike the Delta and Bay Extravaganza, there are no boat number limits for this event. Also, unlike our other event, for this outing you can drop in, and out, at any time you want. The Extravaganza is a "disciplined forced march", whereas the Off-Shore Adventure is a "laid back Jimmy Buffett party".
Come one, and come all, but please sign up on this thread that you will be showing up. More information will be forthcoming.
As of now we have the following three vessel attendees:
1. M/V Pounder, C-Dory (Jim & Kath)
2. M/V Islander, Duffy (Ron & Nat)
3. M/V Dinner Belle II, C-Dory (John & Robbin)
More on this "party" later.
Sincerely,
Jim and Kath _________________ Jim on M/V Pounder

Another great cruise! There is a chance we will make it this year, if the boss says we can bring the C Dory back out when we come during the summer. (It means we have to drive two vehicles--most likely). But you have got me thinking--I had lunch with Boris and Judy (Journey On) today--and Catalina sure looked good across the water! _________________ Bob Austin

We will be heading West this next week, and the C Dory will be part of the caravan. My daughter and her family are moving to London for 2 years some time in mid August--and so we may not be at the gathering for the entire week, but we will try and make it for at least a few days….as well as some other trips over to the Island! Probably be there for the "dinner" . |

Jim,
We cannot say 100% we will attend, since my daughter and her family leave for 2 years living in England about the 10th of August, and there may be some sort of "going away" party about this time. However, we plan to have the boat in Huntington Beach / Seal Beach, CA this summer, and will at least scoot over to Catalina a few days--if not the full week during the C Brat gathering. |

Jim, you can add my brother-in-law Bernie to the list. He will be coming for a few days on his Baba 30 named Altair, however the seed I planted in his ear about C-Dories have finally paid off he has bought a C-Dory 25 (named Vega) which he plans to keep in Anacortes Wa. So he will finally be a real C-Brat.
Eiko and I of course look forward to seeing you, Kathy and all the other friends we have made on this adventure! |

Journey On just got back from a week at the Isthmus string line. A great trip. We plan to be getting a new eye when you're at Catalina.
Just so there's no sticker shock, I thought we'd mention a few things. First gasoline at the Isthmus is $7.07/gal (last week,) so bring your own. The string line ran about $30/day for Journey On. We launched at Huntington Harbour since we came from San Diego. The bridge is fixed and it costs $12/day to leave the truck and trailer. I believe that's the cheapest launch ramp. So, figure it's $42-50/day. The Isthmus isn't crowded, string line had plenty of room even over the weekend.
Launch ramps are:
Cabrillo Beach, closest, most expensive, busy.
Long Beach next to Queen Mary, nice, quiet when we were there.
Long Beach 2nd street, full on week ends, sandy ramp.
Huntington Harbor, longest, 28 nmi, farthest from north arrival plenty of room.
