I've seen photos of them in boats but cannot locate much for purchase. Looking for a comfy helm seat to fit the Venture but looking for armrests that will fold out of the way.

Ideas?

Thanks!

Troy

Hey Troy!

Have you looked at the seats listed from Defender?

http://search.defender.com/?expression=seats&s=1&Trigger=ac

I'm really partial to those Todd seats, although the price is kindof shocking. Ill be curious what you end up with and look forward to checking it out.

My helm seat has become quite the bun bruiser so have been thinking of an upgrade as well.

Yeah, pretty put off by a lot of pricing I've seen too!

Need to check the footprint for mounting, but these look promising. Not folding but that doesn't concern me too much. I have the port seat that converts facing forward or aft. Thinking of modifying that to put a decent co-pilot chair in too. Maybe on a swivel base. I think the wife would enjoy that!

Can't remember who, but someone here put in a nice van seat for the helm. Since there is not a seat mount in the C-Dory you have to match (mine was a piece of wood with 4 screws in it, you should be able to easily put in just about anything you want. You might check auto junk (sorry, dismantling) yards for late model seats. Probably a lot cheaper than "boat" seats.

Auto seats may not be as weather proof as a proper boat seat, but with the C-Dory the seats are pretty well sheltered from the weather.

The van seat is in Bill Carli's boat (CD-25), Soulmate. Still for sale, along with his whale watch business, I do believe.

You might consider Tractor seats. I did a goggle and there are tons out there. Lot more demand for tractor seats than boat seats so the prices are lower.

I am building a 32' Glen-l design "True Grit" and ordered two helm seats from Veada Industries www.veada.com They make the seats in many colors and the arms fold up and the back reclines. Very nice seats and comfortable.

Hello Troy,

I second Chuck's suggestion for tractor seats. I bought one from Tractor Supply, for my former boat, a Cape Cruiser 23. It was very comfortable with folding armrests and adjustable recline back rest. The nice thing was I could measure the width (critical dimension for my boat) right in the store, take it home and test fit, and, if necessary, take it right back to the store for refund if it wasn't suitable.

Good luck,

dave

Here is a link to a seat manuf. I visit them at the boat show to rest in their seats. They have seats with folding arm rests.

Bently makes beautiful seats. They are the supplier for the Ocean Sport. That is what my C-Dory wants to grow up to be - - - if - - - I add enough water Laughing
