A recent thread brought up this product:
Telescoping hitch:

But I also wanted to start a thread about add-ons to ask if anyone has used/owned one of these travel jacks.

We have to turn the trailer around in the driveway to back it into the boat shed and the driveway while nearly level that direction is just downhill enough that I can't comfortably control boat movement with my hand dolly se we have to re-hitch and back it in. This unit looks like it would make the turning around easy and with those two wheels likely move the boat safely into or out of the shed as well. It will add some weight but our setup will be fine with that. I like the fact that is hand driven and not electric. I would keep it out of the salt water as much as possible of course.
It also looks like there is another version of the same thing under this name as well.

Any users out there? Appreciate any input.

Best add-on for trailering I've ever added is a front-mounted receiver. May solve the need for the dolly (it did for me)!
It's amazing how maneuverable it is on the front. |

I've got a Fulton folding tongue on our new aluminum Road King trailer so it will fit in my 28' deep tall garage.
And I'd like to see that Northern Tool $250 jack operate on a gravel slope, please! Not that it wouldn't, I'd just like to see it.

We would only use on a modestly sloped asphalt surface so I feel like it should work. I noticed some negative reviews but especially on the silver version there are lots of good reviews as well. Might just have to try one and report back. We can't do a front hitch on our tow rig and it is a pain turning it 90 degrees by hand then re-hitching to the tow rig to back in. The backing is the best part, I am just tired of the turn around and re-hitching game.

Greg- I look forward to your review. If it's OK on a 19 it should be fine on our 16. Thanks for starting this thread. |

This is kind of a trailer accessory. I have a backup camera, battery powered that is designed for magnetic mount over the hitch and then plug in the view screen to the cig lighter and watch the hitch happen. I am converting the camera to a plug-in version for the cig lighter in the boat to use as a towing monitor --- so I can eyeball what is happening directly behind the boat or in the cockpit.
The camera batteries just did not last long enough to make the trip. A new 9VDC battery lasted only about 2-3 hours of continuous use.
It is not all functional yet but all the parts are here now so it will be in service soon.
