Bill has obviously been a busy boy lately, but now that the holidays are fading away, maybe we can start bugging him again about some nerd stuff. Certainly by now he has finished all the house chores DanaG required of him before he could bring the new Da Nag home.

It would be a big help if he had some direction- a sense of pupose, as it were - in determining which of the many tasks facing him should move to the top of his list.

Remember, Bill - A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, and you only have 5,279,999 feet to go!

Well, I am going to vote for all three - I know each vote will just cancel out the other two, but what the hey! And where is the choice "I vote for whatever Brock says"??

What is this "You have already voted in this poll" stuff?? I say, "Vote early and vote often"!! In Chicago even dead people can vote, and some BB programmer decided I can't stuff the ballot box here? Phooey!! Wink

I cast my vote but really wanted to vote for 1 & 2. We need multiple selection polls. Twisted Evil

RE the Our C-Dory's List - this is waiting on some code currently being written that extends the user profile to allow additional fields. This code is being written by somebody else, so I don't have much control over it. It's currently in a beta status, and once a couple of the nastier bugs are fixed, I'll install it in a test forum I've got set up. Since it's a fairly major change, I don't want to risk breaking anything here until it's been beaten up on a bit.

Once it's installed, it's a pretty basic coding part on my end to whip up a page that queries all the new profile fields - the "Our C-Dorys" list I know folks want.

I'm guessing it will probably happen within 30 days. Patience, grasshoppers...

Hey - looky there on the front page! Thanks, Bill.

The top two finishers are in place or in the works, so this poll is one for the history books. Or maybe the Poll Achive Forum. I think it has served well its purpose, and I feel another one coming on.

Here's how I addressed the upcoming events...

First, I blasted the "Most Popular" box - it was a lie, sort of. All it did was count the most posts in a topic, and list the highest ones first. Trouble is, just because a topic has the highest post count, doesn't mean it's "most popular" if nobody has posted to it in weeks.

I replaced this box with one that queries the "C-Brat Cruises and Gatherings" forum, but with a twist; it will only list topics in that forum that have been granted "Announcement" status.

So here's how I figured it would work - feel free to jump in with comments. First, we'll keep using that forum as before - somebody gets an idea for a gig, and posts it. Once a date has been agreed upon, one of the forum moderators will modify the topic to be an "Announcement", which will make it appear on the home page. Once the event has passed, one of the moderators will make the topic "Normal" again - it will stay in the forum, but not be displayed on the home page.

Sound like a plan?

Sounds like a dandy plan, Bill. Thank you again, and I'll bring you a prize to the SBS.

It must have been sad for you to remove the Most Popular box. Da New Da Nag was at the top of the list. Your sacrifices do not go unnoticed around this Pub.
