I am starting this thread here for ongoing cruising by Wild Blue with myself (Tim) and the First Mate (Mary) at the helm.
I can't say enough about how wonderful experience it has been taking over Wild Blue from Jim and Joan, and I will do my utmost maintain her with the care and respect that has previously been shown such a fine vessel.
I am looking forward to meeting many C-Brats on our journey.
We will be spending this September heading out of Anacortes up through the Gulf Islands to Desolation. So if you see us on the way don't be disappointed that I don't have the wit, charm and melodious voice of Jim (though I am considerably more handsome ) but do say HI! _________________ Tim

Congrats on the boat purchase and it's good to see you on the C-Brats. Here's to many happy years of cruising on Wild Blue. BTW - one thing I think that boat has been longing for is an occasional fishing trip. Since Jim doesn't like fish, that aspect of Wild Blue's potential has been ignored. Perhaps you can rectify that. _________________ Roger on Meant to be |

Welcome, and your boat has proven its qualities and kept Jim and Joan safe and dry for many years. It's first (long) sea trial was a success!
Have fun on your initial travels and don't be shy when questions come up. I had a 25 of this vintage as well and will be one of those who may chime in with advice.

Tim & Mary, congratulations on your purchase of the very well known & beautiful Wild Blue & the joining of the C-Brat family. We will be looking forward to your telling of its further adventures & for sure a tough act to follow.
It was very interesting for us to see your listed place of residence is Potter Valley, CA, the very small town in a little valley nestled in the northern coastal mountains of CA, where I grew up & spent most of the first 32 years of my life & still have many old friends & family members who live there & in the surrounding area.

Welcome to the fold, Tim and Mary! And of course your boat needs no introduction
Cruising up to Desolation in September on your new C-Dory.... not too shabby! Can't wait to hear about your continuing adventures. I do still miss that moment of turning off the engine and raising the sails, and the rippling wake/wind-powered sounds that ensue; but then there are many wonderful things about the C-Dory to make up for that. The very shallow draft being one of the big ones, along with the cozy, windowed cabin. I have thoughts of something like a Black Fly sailing dinghy someday. 'course when you anchor it's just the same and that's wonderful And who can deny the fun of pushing the throttle forward and skimming along at speed (Yes, you CAN make it to that anchorage before dark!)
Congratulations and welcome!

Thank you all for the warm welcome
Roger, I am a recovering fisherperson, 30 years now but I admit if I am going to fall off the wagon, it is liable to be in the upper reaches of the Inside Passage or SE Alaska where eventually hope to get with Wild Blue.
Jay, that is quite coincidental, we are "over the hillers" on the Eel, at the end of Ridgeway Hwy. We have only been there about 15 years but know some of the families over in the valley. |

I sure know the term "over the hillers". My sister lives over there not far below the Van Arsdale Dam. During the time I lived in Potter the end of the Ridgeway Highway would come after going through the Circle X ranch & stopping at the Asherman Ranch, which from 1890 to the early 1920's was called Leirlys Resort. My Grandmother worked there when a young lady in 1919. That is one beautiful still remote area with the Eel River just below & Mt San Hedrin above. When I was very young, I hunted most all the Mt San Hedrin area & when just out of high school & then the Army worked for the San Hedrin Logging Co on it.

Hi Tim and Mary, and Welcome.
C-Brats are where it's at. And it pays to check in often, or the whole place can change in a blink. (I have been off the site for about a month and look what's happened.) So you have a great and happy boat and it is well trained. You should do well, and be sure to check in here and let us know how things are going.
Enjoy Wild Blue, and safe travels.
Harvey

Because of limited Internet up here, I am going to just blog our whereabouts and post the link here. I will monitor the forum to answer any questions if they come up. I cannot thank Jim and Joan enough for the wonderful sendoff and our "C-Brat angel in Anacortes" that provided a loner chart card when ours would not function.

Have fun - we are in the desert... where it is hot... ... I think your environment sounds WAY better!
Nice blog post!
