We are going to meet up with some non boating friends near Nanaimo in a few weeks. We will be staying in our boat while they will require land accommodation. Does anyone have a marina suggestion? Thanks _________________ PvL |

Hi Pat and Morag. The best marina with transient moorage is the Port Authority downtown. The Coast Bastion hotel is across the street. There are several motels within a few blocks. The many marina in Nanaimo are mostly permanent moorage. But give Newcastle marina on Stewart a call. They usually have some. It's our home marina when in town. Call Tanya at 1-250-753-1431. Down the block is a nice motel The Buccaneer. It is well regarded. You are then positioned a half mile from downtown. Have a good trip. George |

I'll second George's suggestion of the Port Authority marina, close to hotels, shopping groceries fuel etc. Hope you have a good visit.

Depends how long the stay is? I was at the Port Authority last month by the fish & chip floating cafe. Cost me over $38 for one night. I was at Newcastle Island yesterday, $14 a night. Might be better off to stay at NI and get the water taxi.
Just a thought.
Martin. |
