Jake, If you plan on 7 nights or more at State Park docks or mooring balls, the State Park Moorage Pass will save you money. Yours would cost $ 88 at $4/ft.
Have fun! _________________ Roger

HI Jake,
Yup, Roger is right, and the closest one id the Sequim Bay State Park dock. Works like this real often. Get off work and have time to launch but the Strait of Juan is not a pleasant crossing just then, so .... drop the boat in at JW marina and run down to the park for the night, then you are all on the boat and you can be out and on your way early (05) and across the Strait before the morning winds build.
Times are adjustable, but it gets you another night on the boat, time for a short shake down, and if you forgot anything in the truck it is an easy stop on the way by to pick up the ....(whatever) kid, dog, cooler, or truck key
Lots of spots up there you will enjoy. Be safe.
Harvey

thanks you guys and we picked up that pass a month or so ago and have used it 3-4 times already, looking forward to putting it to use in the SJI.
and hardee that is my game plan too about launching after work running down and get the extra night camping, then crossing first thing in am. the trip were taking in august is 1/2 with kids and 1/2 without as long as the weather is good to cross back over and drop kids off with grandparents. looking forward to it and plan to use state parks or anchor most of the time. |

JAKE -
We 'camped' at state parks in the San Juans with the g'kids aboard our CD. They loved it. They slept on the boat, if weather seemed iffy, on the dock if they wanted to look at stars, and ashore in the camps when they were a little older. They hiked all over the islands on great trails, fixed dinner for themselves at night over a campfire ashore (when the weather was right, had fun with hide-and seek, fishing from dock or shore, etc.
When you can all get away for a weekend or more, nothing better, we thought with kids or grandkids.
One g'kid, who just graduated from college, still loves to talk about her times camping off the C-Dory in State Parks in the San Juan Islands with her family (and she lived in Arizona then).
Enjoy those great islands right out your door! _________________ El and Bill (former live-aboards)

thanks El and Bill, we hope to spend a lot of time up in the islands as the kids grow up, its great at such a young age they really enjoy being on the boat, as well as camping on it. |
