Guess you are the only active "ordained" brat these days Barry so your continued blessings are appreciated!
We had a fantastic time at Pender Harbour and Princess Louisa and even Egmont. Would have loved to spend a bit less time at Pender (nothing against the place!), and see new places such as Smuggler's Cove or Secret Cove or Howe Sound but the weather Gods insured we stayed at Pender to boost the local economy a few extra days due to the Gail force winds. As mentioned, real nice place so far worse places to sit out a storm.
Thanks to Ian and Jackie for hosting the gathering and extended duty as he came by to check on the delayed Brats and offer assistance (including running Rhonda to Sechelt to catch a flight) multiple times as we stayed over.
Enjoyed the Pender Gathering and especially Len Lee's (hope I have the name correct) stories of growing up in the area as well as the tremendous beauty of the area.
Wound up putting in over 100 miles on the water Friday to get close to home and positioned to cross the Straits of Juan de Fuqua first thing Saturday AM. Left Pender at about 0530 just before the folks heading over to Nanaimo and headed straight down the Georgia Straits taking advantage of the relatively calm seas after the strong winds. Went thru customs at Point Roberts and also got fuel there. Kept going down to Blakely Harbor for some additional gas then spent the night at the James Island WA State Park dock. Then got across Juan de Fuqua real early Saturday morning.
Thanks again to all especially Kerri On's George and Carolyn who we followed up to Princess Louisa (PL) on Monday and then left PL with on Wednesday. Thanks for putting up w/ us guys!
Loved seeing everybody and the great Canadian C-Brat turnout. Looking forward to the continuing Gatherings north of the border next year.
Take care and be safe on the water,
Dan, Tanya, and Hannah (stayed home this trip) on C-Renity |
