Have just had a new 22ft Cruiser sent from the factory to New Zealand. Have been checking out the forums on this site for a while now. Enjoy the commitment of all owners and really like the style of boat. Have had it here for a week now, fitting rod holders, bait board etc. etc. etc. Had a mechanic check out the motors yesterday, ready to go. will head out for some fishing tomorrow.

Please of course share pictures of your new vessel! Congrats, you know the saying about boats, well when it comes to a C-Dory it's not true. We enjoy every minute and don't look forward to the day we sell it!

Good as gold mate! Having a c dory to cruise around the bay of islands would be like heaven! Well actually anywhere around New Zealand would be amazing on a cdory, I look forward to seeing some pictures!

You'll have to forgive my presumptuous nature, but I took the liberty of adding you to the Brat Map... Mr. Green

Welcome aboard.
I have heard it said that as wide open ocean swells are the nature of boating in or around NZ that most look for a self bail hull. As you didn't what were you thoughts here?

Thanx Bill for adding us to the map. As it happens the tail of the tag sits almost exactly where the boat does, in Tauranga. I live about 1 hour drive away in Rotorua.
Geoff, I appreciate your 3 stages of life a lot. I have passed through the same first 2 stages and am also in a third stage, only on a different fish. I am involved in creating artificial habitat for Inanga, a native fish that is one of 5 species in our whitebait runs. Operating on the theory that if you can increase the production of small fish, all fish will benefit.
Thankyou all for your warm welcome and kind words, I'm off to the coast to put in some run-in time on the Hondas. Will post photos soon.

I have a friend that's from Invercargill NZ and we love to kid him about his downunder ideas--which he takes in his stride and hands it back. Another friend got his Doctors Degree in Biology in NZ, wrote his thesis on rebuilding habit for rainbow and brown trout -- both as you know were introduced-- California 1880- and Brown trout from the UK
I will be interested in you C-Dory handling those big green swells. Maybe a strong young women with big buckets bailing?

PME: All the best with your new boat! Do you plan to use it mainly on the lake, or out on the coastal waters? Interestingly, I recently did the opposite and had a Kiwi boat built and shipped to me here in the Seattle area via a dealer in Everett. It's truly a small world. Best, Mike

PME,

Welcome and good to see you have really good taste in boats. You are going to love the 22 Cruiser. I'm just home from a weekend on mine, and it was GREAT, 9 hours on the engine, and 2 nights on board. Everything is great now.

Looking forward to seeing some pictures posted. My Father in law spent many trips to NZ when he was in the Navy, and has always spoken of it glowingly, (wishing to go back - though that will not happen now.) Someday after I get retired I will make that trip for him.

Enjoy that first trip, and every one after that Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Harvey
