are dogs allowed at state parks?
we have an italian greyhound (about 10lbs) and I thought taking him to Jarrel Cove would be easier than boarding him for a night or two. we normally board him, but it would be nice to take him with occasionally.
I didn't see a mention of dogs on the website.

We have always taken our dogs. You are required to have them on a leash and pick up after them but they are not against the rules. _________________ Thomas J Elliott

As a general rule, pets (obviously including dogs) are indeed allowed at Washington State Parks as their website states (see http://www.parks.wa.gov/179/Rules-Regulations).
However; as this site also states, these are "general park rules" so, just to be safe, you would be best off confirming their specific policy by contacting Jarrell Cove directly.
We have taken Hannah, our ~ 60 pound Huskie mixed breed dog to numerous WA. State parks and never had a problem including numerous park visits on our C-Dory.
Good luck and I enjoyed your Port Townsend C-Brats post.
Take care,

thanks guys, good point on simply giving them a call
usually when we plan boat trips its find a sitter for the boy, find a boarder for the dog. the more trips that I can include them both on, the more trips I can take and the more spontaneous we can be. now that the boy is doing better with swimming (and loves his life jacket) I feel better about taking him out more often.

More than just your satisfaction is the unforgettable memories your boy will have. My kids still mention boat trips I've dang near forgotten. Everything has so much more grandeur when they are young. Sharing trips gives me the most pleasure and so is considered at the top of my list as to why I own a boat. I got a good chuckle looking at the photos. Good times! You can be proud. _________________

Glad to see the ol boat is serving you well. Kind of miss having it. I guess once you have a c-dory bug, you can never shake it. Ron |

One caveat - at least one Washington State Park (Matia Island) is also a federal game preserve. No dogs allowed on the trails, lots of signs to make sure you know. We land Baxter on shore, he does his duty, we pick it up, and take him back to the boat. He does not like being stuck there while we hike the trails, but such is a dog's life! I don't know if any other state parks are also federal game preserves, I think maybe Patos Island also is. But for the most part, dogs are welcome at state parks, just obey the rules, dogs have to on a leash and you have to pick up after them! _________________
