Hi there. Happy New year!!

I would like to add a seastar helm on the rear bulk head of my 22. Does anyone have pics of this on there boat. What size steering have you been using and do you find the height ok? Any tips or thoughts would be appreciated.

I will just be adding the helm, all the I would like the shifter aft with the twin motors it will be pretty pricey. I fish a lot alone so having control aft is important well I'm trolling

On our 22' Angler. Shift, trim, start and throttle controls the 8 HP kicker. Steering does main and kicker via steering link.

I don't have any great pictures of the rear helm specifically in my album, but you can peruse Digger's album a bit as well. I bought the boat from Ron, and he had already made this modification. I'm extremely appreciative that he did! we have motor controls, and he had put electrical in place (as well as a nice stained shelf) for depth/gps/fish. You could probably PM Digger on these forums for more details if you like the setup. I like it very much. When its just me and one other person, it sure makes trolling easy.

if you are just going to use the second helm for fishing I would go with just a auto pilot with a remote. You could even mount a second control head for the auto pilot on the aft bulk head wall. It would save a lot of room. I would think about the same price if you where moving the controls. Maybe not if you are not moving the throttle.

I have a 2nd wheel on the starboard bulkhead and also a TR-1 Gold auto-pilot by Garmin. I have found that I tend not to use the steering wheel so much, but rather use the auto-pilot as I can carry it around with me. I have also found that if I use that wheel back there to get up on plane returning home,it shifts the boat weight back and just doesn't feel good to me.Using it for the kicker only is good.

I believe that the cost of the TR-1 would be about $2500 and the cost of the second wheel and speed controls back there would about balance out.

If you don't have both speed and steering controls,it is probably a waste of money.
Of course, I no longer have a C-Dory,but rather a Hewescraft Ocean Pro Aluminum boat, so it may be somewhat different in feel.

I would like a autopilot but I have not found any for less then 2500 bucks. I can add a steering staion for around $650. Anyone know where to find a cheaper autopilot that works well at trolling speed. I have twins so the tr 1 is out. I used to have a Hewescraft there worked pretty well!
