The 2005 22 we just purchased has the 90 ETEC on it. It has 304 hours and the dealer I bought it from (we don't take delivery until some things are fixed) took the boat/engine to an Evenrude Shop and had it completely gone over (300 Hour service), they replaced the injectors too as the boat has not been used in about 18 months.

They ran the computer report on it after service and I have three pages of data that I don't really know how to interpret. It has things like Current faults (none) Occurred Engine Faults and Historical Engine Faults, the Engine Speed Profile for all 304 hours and Temp Profiles of the EMM and the Engine itself. There is also a history of the last two minutes listing RPM, TPS%, Temps and CLO (either 0 or 1, whatever that is. The Software Version is 3030373 Rev 92525

The Temp History seems to indicate that it didn't reach proper operating temps for about 19 times. The thread from 2005 indicated that this was a problem for Tom on the 22 Bidarka.

Can anyone read these and tell me if it may be a problem or not? I have them in PDF format and can email them or post them in the documents section if necessary.

Charlie

Just wondering why you haven't asked the dealer and the person who did the diagnostics to explain them to you. I have an e-tech and the beauty of it is they just run and you don't need to worry about those reports unless you have a failure that the report diagnoses.

I was worried about a few times of moderately high blood pressure with mostly normal readings. My doc says stop taking your blood pressure so often! Reading computer reports on modern engines MAY fall into the same category. Remember before the computer could tell you what was happening in the engine...no computer. You just fired it up and went fishing!

The dealer is a broker and he got the diagnostic/service done from an outside, qualified source. I will go straight there eventually.

Thanks, I miss some of the non computer days too! Wink

Charlie

My engine report showed the average operating temp was 87F. I thought that was a little low although BRP said that was within normal parameters. I thought not and 2 weeks later changed the engine for a Honda. The ETEC uses two ways to control engine temp. One is the thermostat which works at low RPM and a spring control valve that opens progressively as speed increases. BRP originally found that valve was essentially wide open all the time meaning the engine never heated up. They replaced it but the low temp problem continued. On our last trip before I swapped the motor, my wife and I both noticed a change in the sound of the motor while making a run at about 3/4 throttle. The tone changed and it seemed smoother. My guess was the motor finally reached operating temp and the EMM got into an operating mode I had never experienced before.

Brent, I'm sure it will, thanks. Have ordered a 2005 service manual on eBay. And Tom, thanks. I read all of the 2005 thread. Will get the boat in Jan and splash it once I get the lift supports reset from TC255 to CD22 configuration. Then we will see how it runs!
