It seems that the screen on my 1650 has gotten smaller over the years, is it common for electronics screens to shrink as they get older? I see that there has been a price reduction on the new 1870f model & am thinking of an upgrade.

Is anybody running a 1870? if so what do you think of it?

thanks

After eating some peyote buttons and going on a vision quest, it came to me,the secret to a happy life....is...an electronics upgrade from Rogers Marine Electronics. Before I totally regained my senses, I found myself drilling a few new holes in my overhead shelf for the new 1870f mounting bracket.

The bracket and machine is not much larger than the old 1650 but has a larger screen. Hooked up my existing power , transducer and waas/gps antenna cables and fired it up..it works. The NMEA cable will need an adapter if I want the new unit to be able to communicate with the radar & VHF. Total installation time, about 5 minutes. It will be given a more through test drive on the river today Smile

If anybody is interested, I left the old 1650 and all of the navionics chips that cover the coast, from Ca to AK, at Rogers Marine to sell on consignment.
