Patty from C-Cakes and I were discussing the need for a C-Brat burgee while at the Sidney gathering. I think it's high time we brought this subject back up. I know that the last time this was discussed way back when, it turned out to be quite a brouhaha to the point that Seawolf Joe threw his hands up in dismay, so to speak.
Do you think it would be possible to resuscitate this subject in a "civil" manner, following the only rule on the site, which is "just be nice"?
For those curious about the last discussion, here's the thread. C-Brat Burgee
What do you say? Should we start a poll?

Jeez I read through the pages of the old thread. Never knew the history. So much bad blood it must have been ugly. I sure hope Joe jumps out the window on this one as it seems he took a lot crap in trying to do something for the group. I already have a C-Dory logo on the side of my boat so I'm good but I'm sure some would love them. How about a flag for world peace?

I presently fly the Canadian flag, my yacht club burgee, a cocktail happy hour burgee. A fourth flag? Heck, why not.

My .02. I have flown yacht club burgees to identify that I was a member of a specific organized Yacht Club. That had certain advantages. Some clubs were international--such as Seven Seas, or Ocean Cruising club. Others were very specific such as Little Ship Fleet or Long Beach Yacht club, Pensacola Yacht club, etc. Other members of that club might recognize your club either locally or in any parts of the world where you were sailing. We met a number of people who belonged to or recognized one of those clubs as we sailed in different parts of the world. When sailing internationally we would fly the burgee of SSCA and OCC, occasionally one of the Long Beach yacht clubs.
My boat type did not show what that yacht club was. Currently, the C Dory boat type--and its offshoots are easily recognized. I assume, occasionally incorrectly, that any C Dory owner knows about C Brats, and probably is a member. Thus I don't see the need for a specific "club" burgee. There are also many members who do belong to a specific yacht club currently. Not a lot of places on a C Dory to display a number of Burgees. Thus, I would not be interested in buying a burgee. _________________ Bob Austin

I'm in favor of a C-Brat Burgee. I consider C-Brats as my virtual yacht club. Yes, I have a C-Dog decal and my boat is easily recognized as a C-Dory. But, heraldry is a different aspect that I think our organization deserves. So, I'd like two polls. 1. Should we have a burgee? and 2. If that poll shows C-Brats are in favor of a Burgee, then we should have members submit designs and have a poll for which burgee we'll fly.

Approaching the topic with civility and respect could lead to a poll to effectively select a winning design to be enjoyed by many of our members, and flown with aplomb, today's Word for New Discovery.
I'll be watching from my bunker, of course. (!)
Look through the old thread to see what type of design you prefer. Design a new possibility as a challenge.
Some are much harder to make/embroider/silkscreen than others, especially with the two-sided appearance problem (needs to be readable/interpretable from both sides when flown.)
Good Luck!
Joe.

So is this thread actually a poll of whether we should have a poll to select a burgee by polling? _________________ Rick & Shirley

Count Still C-razy in for a burgee. I have no artistic interest and will fly whatever shows up. _________________ You can tell a man his wife is ugly, but never ever criticize his dog, his gun, his truck or his boat.
