Among many projects on my newly purchased 81 22' Angler I found that Interlux 108 Hatteras Off-White is an almost perfect match to the older models hull colour. I used it to paint the rear bulkhead and it looks like it came from the factory that way (the DecaGuard had been painted flat black by the previous owner).

Hope this is useful to Classics owners. Looked at new and couldnt afford one, found mine for $8400 and it was in excellent shape.

Andy

Hey Andy,
Thanks for the tip about the paint. Did you buy it locally or on-line?
Any chance of a few photos? My '83 Angler has the bulkhead painted black, too. I plan to paint it white just as you did. It's a Juneau alumnus, too.

Andy.
What kind of motor and trailer did you get for that kind of money?

Hey Pat, I think we have twins! I found my boat at Fisherman's Bend and it had only been for sale for 3 days. Several people were interested but I had the cash up front!

I got the paint at Western Auto and it was kind of a fluke, the little paint swatch on the can looks like it would be too buff coloured but it is an exact match and I have been very pleased with it.

Do you still have the diesel stove in you boat? I refurbished mine and its great; made by Washington Stove works.

I would love to post pictures but havent figured out how.

C-Otter:

Trailer is a galvanized single axel EZ Loader that is in great shape (new tires, virtually no rust, new lights etc.). I replaced the safety chains, winch, and bow chain and thats it.

Its powered by a 1997 112 Johnson 2 stroke that runs great and has good compression. The kicker is a 2003 9.9 Johnson 2 stroke that has barely been used. However, I am sold on the 4 strokes and am taking it in for a repower (90 hp Suzuki) next week.

It also came with a 2003 Zodiac rollup, new fortress anchor, two cannon downriggers, tools, handheld VHF etc. The electronics all work but are old and being replaced with my own.

I went over the boat with a fine toothed comb and its in great shape, no hull damage, only minot gelcoat chips along the coammings, fairly new dual batteries, and a spotless interior (although the dinnette table is missing).

Andy,

I too would like to see some pics Laughing

Send Tyboo Mike a PM and he will no doubt get you a gallery set up.

I'm not sure yet what I'm going to do on the back of the cabin on the 27. I may just leave it with a clear wood varnish. But I do like the looks of the white too. We'll see what Sharie decides. Wink

BTW: Welcome!

Hi Andy,
Whoo ... you've got quite a thread started here. I'll be checking around Fairbanks to see if that paint is available locally.
The diesel stove was gone when I got the boat but the nifty little exhaust stack is still there. I bought one of those little Dickenson propane heaters to replace it. It the flexible stove pipe/intake pipe goes right up through the hole.

The dinette table is gone, too. I'm trying to figure out how to put something in that space that won't reduce the minimal seating area too much.

C-Farer has a 70 Hp 4 stroke Suzuki and a 15 Hp 4 stroke Suzi kicker. The hydraulic steering and the trim tabs work pretty nicely.

I think I'll be scouring Red Fox's photos and messages quite a bit as the boat gets "restored."

.... well, everyone that gets to see the old RedFox always thinks she is a "new boat" Disgust I say they just don't have an eye for detail Shocked She is actually pretty roughed-up.
I have been asked: "how do you keep her finnish so nice all the time" ...

For starters you need to do a lot of heavy buffing, even wet-sanding, prior to a final-buff, before a good wax is applied. If ya don't let her weather too bad (oxidize and "ultravioletize" bad Sad ) just hitter with some 303 right over the old wax job, and she looks right good Thumbs Up super-duper-easy to maintian this way, but ya should do it often Neutral

Thing is: she can only take so many of them wet-sands and heavy-buffs before the under-coat starts showing (thats where I'm at right now) I can do that anymore, so eventually RedFox is going to be completely repainted with the latest greatest paint (Not gelcoat)! there is for marine applications.

Thanks Gljjr, I will send him an e-mail and hopefully he can help me overcome my technological schizm.

RedFox, I first saw your boat on the C-Dory broshure and wished for something similar (had a Bayrunner skiff before the C-Dory), I have since enjoyed your site and adventures. I got sticker shock when we looked at new C-Dorys and my wife and I almost figured we would never be in a position to own one. Now that we have found the classic, its been a pleasure getting inspiration from you and others on this site....thanks. By the way, you have a very entertaining and engaging turn of phrase!

I mean, my luck is usually to buy a house two days before the mill closes, I had stock in Braniff, my Hamburger stands in India never took off........I feel fortunate in my present circumstances.

I will post pics as soon as I figure it out.

TyBoo, thanks I have already posted a couple of pictures.

Redfox, would love to meet you. My folks live in Wasilla but there is nothing like the S.E. for boating and the outdoors. Dont know what you will do with your snow machines down here though.

..... back in Teeth

Well, depends on what town yer in down there. I been inquiring about the subject for a few years, and the snowmachin'n always is dependant on the quality of the winter Cry Not a whole lot unlike around here Crook
There's riddin where were movin to, some get together, put there machines on landing craft (split the cost between all going) and head in Canada! Pretty much have to get away from the inside passage---is what I figure. Rolling Eyes

Awright... meetin will be on... it may take a few years---and these old Classic C-DOrys don't go away over night Wink
