My boat doctor, in whom I have a reasonable level of trust, mentioned today that he knew of two Tomcat boats in southeast Alaska that are having to have fuel tank replacements due to moisture trapped between the aluminum tank and the fiberglass hull below. For some reason I thought the Tomcat was manufactured with the tanks supported on blocks of starboard or some other material to ensure there is an airspace between the hull and tank. I just doublechecked mine and there is no gap. Southeast Alaska is a pretty wet place. Is premature aluminum tank deterioration an issue in Tomcats? Mine is a 2007 that I bought new. Crook

I think there was a TC that had tank leak problems but I think it was an older 24. Have not heard, or don't remember of a 255 having a problem.

Sorry if I mess up this reply, I am new at this site...

Looks like this could be a serious issue- I guess there isn't really a practical way to determine the condition of the tanks until they actually leak. My tanks are like all the 255 tanks, buried in the hull with monolithic deck and house superstructure built over it.

Tony, if you've already got the TC, it's kinda like worrying about a 747 is going to fall on you. Worry about something you can do something about!. JMHO.

Boxed wine is ideal for boating. I've found Black Box brand has a more reliable spigot than some other brands.
