Is resale lower on a 19' Angler

Just wondering if resale value drops more on a 19' angler than the 22' cruisers? I'm more interested in the 22' footers but saw a 19' Angler 04 model that was new in 12/04 listed at 20k no trailer. Motor is a 60hp Yamaha 4 stroke and it has a gps/chartplotter that was 1k new. Is this a steal or about right?

My opinion - you will probably regret it, rigged as is. At the very least, insist on a sea trial before purchasing.

Anything less than a 70/75HP outboard on a 19 is insufficient. They need to be powered exactly like a 22.

First hand knowledge here...I had the first C-Dory 19 Angler, and it was suggested I go with the Yamaha F60. Big mistake - it was an absolute dog, even when loaded lightly. The F60 was quickly yanked and replaced with an F80, and the change was huge.

Fortunately, in my case, I was working closely with C-Dory and the dealer to figure out the kinks in the newly released 19. As such, I was able to upgrade to the F80 for very little money - basically, the difference in what I paid for the F60, and dealer cost on the F80.

If the package were cheap enough to make a repower an option, it might be worth looking into. The Yamaha 60 should sell for a decent price, or a Yamaha dealer might give you a reasonable trade-in on it if you upgraded. But at $20K, I'm not sure that the numbers would come out on your side...

Does the 19' Angler have trim tabs? One of the things Bill found out about the 19 was that it was unstable and porpoised a lot. Adding trim tabs solved the problem. They'll cost about $600 to add if you do the labor yourself. Joe.

Thanks for the reply's. I'm not sure it if does have trim tabs but eitherway it sounds like it would be underpowered. This guy is advertising it on Boattraderonline for 28k but just put it in the paper for 20k so I was wondering why? Maybe it's the engine....

Since now one else seems to want to directly address the question, I'll give you my $.02:

So far, this seems to be the typical take on the used 19 vs 22 question:

Many newcomers to the C-Dory world look at all the models and think that a 19 would be a good first boat without quite the expense of the 22. Then they find out that all the 19's are relatively new and still cost more money used than a 22 of an older vintage.

Some of us go a step further and advise them to look at the older 22's as an alternative that would be more boat for the dollar and that will be more versatile as their needs change.

Once enough 19's have been produced that there will be a ready supply of them on the used market, their used prices should begin reflect their lesser original cost as well as their lesser size, versatility, and features.

Seems logical to me anyway.

What's the question here again?

2006 19 Angler sells for $22.6K. That's the bare boat, no options, no trailer, no motor.

$20K with trailer and (underpowered) engine still sounds good to me. Find a Yamaha dealer and work a trade for the motor.
