Does anyone know of good places to launch and (safely) overnight park a vehicle and trailer in the Portland area? Last fall I did this at Willamette Park with no problem, but this summer I was told, and it was posted, no overnight parking. I already had a slip reserved at River Place marina, so started upstream looking for a launch site. Stopped at several city parks/ramps that were all posted no overnight parking. Finally ended up at the Sportcraft ramp under the I-205 ramp in Oregon City, but that's over 10 miles upstream. I also checked on Tomahawk/Hayden Island and no luck there.

Any local knowledge would be much appreciated.

Hope I can still post here despite owning a "wrong" boat.

Someone told me about launch just past St. Johns bridge on Highway 30 just where the Multnomah channel begins off of the Willamette river. I think the fee is $5 per night and I heard they lock the gate at night. I have not been there yet nor am I sure of the name but it might be a good safe spot for your vehicle and trailer overnight if you want to check it out.

Good luck on finding the right C-Dory for you!
