Just a quick note of solace to any of you that might have had concerns over water entrainment and rot in your balsa core. I just drilled out and cleaned the holes in my deck where the teak stops were mounted for the battery and fuel tanks. There was no evidence or residue of old sealant. out of 8 holes that I drilled and filled the worst was about 3/4 to 1 inch of crud before I hit clean balsa. Keep in mind that this is a 21 yr old boat that has not been well loved until now. ( Does anyone know the number for the society for the prevention of cruelty to C-Dorys???). I have a much warm fuzzy after looking at the worst possible area of theboat and finding that little effect. _________________ If You're not living on the edge you're taking up too much space! |

I'm resurrecting this thread from March of 2005. This has a lot of information about Balsa Core with comments by Jeff Messmer, VP of C-Dory. _________________ Dave S.
