Desolation Sound 8-1-2012
Willie's Tug was cruising up the Homfray Channel, destination Homfray Lodge, a new remote wilderness lodge that just happens to have a nice dock. Since Homfray Lodge is only accessible by water, this is a necessity. What a pleasant surprise to arrive and find that 3 C-Brats had arrived ahead of us and were already sampling the wonderful hospitality of the Macey brothers. Katmai, Dreamer and Sea Pal were proudly lined up on the dock.

We spent two nights visiting with old and new friends before moving on to continue our tour of this fabulous area.

Left to Right: Roger of Dreamer, Bob of Sea Pal, Betsy of Sea Pal, Mary of Katmai, Casey of Katmai, and Herb of Willies Tug.
Jake, Sleeping on the dock.

Glad to see so many of you tried out Homfray Lodge. We first spotted it in June as we left from Wildernest, and wondered what it was so we contacted them. They were very responsive, indicating that they would accomodate boaters as well as "lodgers" and asked that we pass the information along.

Would be interested to hear more about your experiences as it seems to offer another option as a base camp for exploring this area.

Thoroughly enjoying Herb's blog about the Desolation trip. Lots of empathy for your feelings about the water in Trincomali and Georgia Straits Shocked (getting to know Nanaimo and Pender really well!!!)

Merv & Kathy

Sure good to see you all having a good time. (As in when would that not ever be the case.) Don't know if you are interested but you are missing summer in Sequim. Last weekend, Fri, Sat and Sunday. Crossed the Strait of Juan twice on the same day and it was glassy both ways and all 3 days. It was a great weekend on the boat. especially for somebody who still has to be there on Monday morning for that w@#~k thing.

Have a great time and be safe. See you in the fall Mr. Green
