Today, i bought a Vexilar FL-18 Genz Pack with a 12 degree transducer. This is a great ice fishing tool for catching fish. I do some ice fishing but i bought it to use on the boat when Perch or Walleye fishing. I tried one of my friends machine's last year and are great in locating and watching fish take your bait. You just hang the transducer over the side of the boat when your anchored and if there are any fish they are easy to spot. Fun to use to. Tug

Yep they are great ice fishing fish finders you can see the swivel, the flasher and the bait. You can see the fish come right up and take the bait. I use a camera about 3 feet away to compare what's on the screen and give my friend the play by play.

Tug, just get it on the ice. You should be able to push it by hand, it's ICE and a FLAT BOTTOM. Go for it. Just be sure to tie it to something when you're not onboard. Take pictures. Should be a big hit on YouTube!

Was at the Canadian Tire store today and there was this 4 man HT Ice shelter for sale..50% off..so i bought it. I have been in a couple of shelters similar to this one and they are really good at keeping you warm, ( with a small heater ) . and as a wind break.Went to the canal to set it up and do some ice fishing but there is about 3- 4 feet of open water between the wall and the ice and i didn't feel like jumping the gap. Shocked I wait until next year or i will drive up to Haviland Bay .( Lake Superior ) and do some Perch fishing...there is lots of ice there.Ended up setting up the ice shelter in my living room to see if it was all there. Nice Tent should be a lot warmer than sitting on a bucket. Here's my flasher a little older but still works great. Next to it is my fish camera. My buddy drills his hole in line with mine and I can see both poles with the camera. When a fish moves into view I can wake him up and tell him to get ready to catch fish. Laughing Laughing

And here is a picture of my tent.

Nice set up..i think a camera is in my future also. What type/model tent is that in the picture, is it a two or four man tent and can you stand up in it.The only reason i got the four man is because it 80 inches in the centre. Tug

It is an Otter Outdoors Medium 2 person. Yes you can stand in it. I had a 4 man at one time it was harder to keep it warm inside. If there was 4 people inside it would be fine. With one person inside there seem to be to much cold air to warm up. With the Otter and a buddy heater you can get tee shirt weather inside.

I decided to return my HT 4-MAN Ice shelter, didn't like the fabric. ( looked very tearable ). and there was no double stitching at the critical stress points. I bought the Shappell 4-man Ice House 6000 at a discount and for just $ 79.00 more than i payed for the HT plus they drew in a few spare battens. ( ribs ). for the tent if one ever broke. It has 600 denier polyester fabric which looks and feels much more substantial, re-enforced corners and double stitching.. basically a much better ice house. Tug

Went out to Haviland Bay ice fishing this morning , was fishing at 7:45 AM..( LITTLE DARK OUT ). ..fished till 11:00 AM..when i left it was + 8 degree's Centigrade and sunny. People are starting to pull their shacks off the ice. The weather is suppose to be real warm for the next 10 days. No fish today..they were .( hitting my bait ). but i couldn't get any Whitefish. Time to packed up my ice fishing gear until next year. Think i will order a gas auger .( on sale ). i am getting too old to do two feet of ice with a manual auger.Tug
