RPM VS. Speed (MPH and NMPH)
Captain's Cat TC255 TomCat
Two adults, full fuel/water plus cruising gear
Have had several questions concerning speed of Captain's Cat with the Suzuki 115's and whether I felt it was enough power. I didn't buy THATAWAY b/c of the engines but because of the A/C and all of the other improvements Dr. Bob made to it. I like the Raymarine E-80/Radar/Chartplotter/Fishfinder combo better than the one on THATAWAY but it, also is totally adequate. PM or e-mail for a list of other things on the boat!
I do not linger at the RPM range between 2500 and 3500 but push it right up and the permatrims pop it up quickly on plane. Mileage at high speeds probably somewhat comparable to the bigger engines, at lower speeds probably more. I don't have fuel flow gauges on Captain's Cat.
RPM MPH NMPH
700 3 2.6
1000 5 4.3
1500 7 6.1
2000 9 7.8
2500 11 9.6
3000 13 11.3
3500 19 16.5
4000 22 19.1
4500 27 23.5
5000 29 25.2
5500 32 27.8
~6000 35 30.4 (WOT, depends on Load)

Nice boat, I am looking for one to use on the south shore of Long Island.
Have you ever gone offshore ?
How does it handle the ocean, say a 2 to 4 foot sea ?
How many hours are on the engines ?
What is the max HP rating.
How much for just the boat and trailer ?
I already have a 2006 Ram 2500 mega cab w/ cummins diesel.
Thanks,
-Frank
