Does anyone know if the MOB points on a Furuno NavNet3D are stored after power down?
No biggie, I guess I'll find out tomorrow . . . |

They should save as way points. I always use way points for the crap pots. On most units you can go back and use crab or lobsters icons to mark the good spots.[/img] _________________ Thomas J Elliott

it seems like a short press creates a point and a long press creates a MOB point . . .
but doesn't an MOB point take into account vessel speed and current? |

Not on any GPS I've ever used. A MOB point is simply marked as a more important waypoint and on some units results in an "navigate to MOB point?" option (e.g. automatically creates a course to the point). _________________ Roger on Meant to be |

As Roger said- a MOB point is simply a waypoint, or a static point on the chart. Most plotters have functions unique to the MOB waypoint, but otherwise it behaves pretty muchj like any waypoint. I would expect it to be retained in memory after power down like any waypoint.
I beleive that only one MOB can exist at a time, but I could be wrong about that. It won't be the first time. _________________ Matt Gurnsey

thanks for the replies . . . I found out today after yesterday was too rough to venture out and pick the pots we set Sunday that you can store multiple MOB points and they do "come back" the next day, or the day after.
A long press creates a MOB point and a short press creates a "Point 00012" etc
I do remember some info about MOB points, current and SOG etc but I can't seem to find that data in the manual.
All I do know is I was learning how to use MOB points and regular points whilst dropping/finding crab pots.
We dropped 3 pots Sunday and it was pretty rough. I know it's a big no no to show where you drop but I have friends in SF so I thought I'd share . . .
So it was too rough yesterday so we came back today and it was smooth as silk but a pretty high tide.
My MOB point and Point 0010, Point 0013 were bang on . . . even though our crab pot floats were under water *most* of the time!
I dumped the resolution down to 80 feet/yards, whatever it is and I eventually found all 3 pots.
FWIW . . . crabbies for the win . . . |
