Hi C-Pals, now that it's cold in the SF Bay I'm realizing I want a heater. My 22 footer Squidward came from the dealer with the Origo stove. Anyone know whether the Wallas stove will fit in the same cut-outs; and whether a pretty darned handy person could install it themselves? Any tips & tricks are welcome, thanks!

I did exactly that last winter and it's not too great a challenge. The Origo cuttout is larger than that required for the Wallas. I made a three-sided (2 sides and front) filler piece out of 4/4 teak. I rabbetted out the underside to overlap the countertop surface. I made the filler three-sided to leave the proper clearance at the back of the Wallas, per their instructions. The hardest part of all of this was figuring out the required inside and outside dimensions required for the teak. Unfortunately, I believe I have thrown out the pattern that I made. Anyway, I'll be glad to answer any other questions you may have.

I've been considering the same. Pounder, in Sacramento, did his. He had a stainless steel cover plate made to fill in around the Wallas where the Origo was.
Let us know how it works out.

When I converted, I pre-arranged with C-Dory to have them create a new counter top for me. First, I drove up to Scan and picked up my stove. Then, I took my old countertop to the factory. They used it as a template for an exact match. Wood grain Formica(Wilsonart?) on plywood. Edges routed and stained. Once back home, I offered up the new counter so I could locate the stove exactly where I wanted it (fore/aft;left/right). Then I simply jig-sawed the cutout. Later, I applied teak trim to the edges for a better look. I think they charged me 75.00 or 100.00. Pete

I was gonna suggest getting the stove "kit" and a new counter top from the factory. You can do as Pete did via UPS or FedEx ground -- but I'd wait a couple of weeks.

I'm going to try and send the factory a cardboard template of my current countertop and see if they'll send me one with the Wallas cut-out already made.
Any comments on the through-hulls I need to make?
