DOES ANYONE HAVE EXPERIENCE INSTALLING SCOTTY ELECTRIC DOWN RIGGERS ON A 22 CRUISER?
SQUIDWARD HAS A NEW HOME IN SANTA ROSA CA. WE ARE VERY PLEASED TO HAVE HER IN THE CARPORT.
ANY GOOD GPS WAY POINTS OFF BODEGA HARBOR SONOMA COUNTY CA. FOR CRAB POTS?
THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP. |

Hi,
I have Cannons but for what it's worth, I mounted one on each side just forward of the fuel ports. They are on swivel mounts and I could not be happier with the location. My standing position as I'm cranking them is comfortable allowing me to lean into the gunwhale. I also sit on the aft over the lazarette while trolling in fair weather and the boom from the rigger while out 45 degrees gives me a nice place to rest my hand for a little sense of security.
Cheers,

I have Scotties on the swivel mounts - the back side of each mount is about even with the back of the openings to each side gunnel. Similar in location to Dan's but maybe a bit more forward. I have the extendable 60" booms and am quite happy with the location.

One more thing. I also mounted holders for the weights just behind the lazzarettes. If you do it properly, the downriggers can be raised a bit, swiveled and the weights set down right in the holders...

Lawrence,
I also live in Santa Rosa--my boat is in a slip at Spudpoint Marina out at Bodega Bay. Let me know if you'd like to get together some time for some fishing or cruising.
