I looked at the neighbors 1981 C-Dory 22 today (thanks) and the bottom was FLAT! It had wooden keel boards.
I looked at a new one yesterday and don't remember it being absolutly flat, I thought it had a transitional area up front where the sides rolled under to form the bottom and had more of a keel.
My forgetter works better every day, but I still think the bottom looked different on the new one.

So here is the ? if they changed the hull design what year did the changes take place?

thanks
wade

Attn: Mr. R-Fox, toothy, came from an old dive board name. I used to dive for shark teeth in South Carolina, it also describes my personality a few days a year, maybe a little more than a few. Twisted Evil That all depends on your perspective.

Hi Wade -

The 1987 CD 22 was the first the new style hull, and it is the same as today. The '87 and newer design has a 6º (I think) deadrise at the stern. They also added the reverse chines where the sides meet the bottom for the new design.

It seems to me there were a couple different designs prior to 1987, using runners or keels in different arangements. But that is just info I have learned from folks on here, and not certain knowledge. The pre-87 hulls are flat in the back, no doubt. The trailers for the flat stern even had (have) a full width roller at the back for the hull to sit on and roll off of.

True... my old 85 is butt-flat (halibut Laughing ) all the way up to the curve of the bow (as you already know) Also, there a scoshe narrower at least on the floor area, and I think in overall width to.

Mine has the runners glassed into the hull. Looks nice, and will never come off! (they do chip though) after going aground (several thousand times over the last hundred years... Disgust Laughing ) they do get a little beat-up Crook .Thing I like best about the old "Classic" (flat bottomed) is the cute perky butt Xmas Naughty (single-engine transom)
