My 19' CD is currently being built. I've read the discussions about wiring and self parking wipers. One of my frustrations with our current boat is the lack of intermittent wipers. Does anyone else share my concern? Has anyone figured out how to add a variable speed intermittent function to the sock CD wipers?

Why, yes I have. But then I thought better of it. I do believe you can still buy controllers for those at places like JC Whitney, but I had more of a Rube G scheme in mind. If I scrounged up an adjustable time delay relay to wire into the circuit, it would work. But the light contacts in the thing would require another heavier relay to feed the wiper motor. Now it's getting too messy with too many things to go haywire. I gave up on that plan when it occured to me to put a simple foot activated momentary switch below the helm seat. You want one swipe? Just kick the switch. Want several? Hold the switch. Simple.

If the momentary switch is added to the primary positive wiper feed, the parking circuit still works fine. As long as the button is held in, the wiper runs. Release it, and the wiper parks then stops.

On the TyBoo22, I added a momentary PB switch to the passenger side when I converted the seat to forward facing. That helped keep my wife from bugging me to switch her wiper on. I never did get around to doing the foot switch, nor have I done it to the new boat. One of these days...........
