Some great photos. Just much harder for me to get there now from Nashville than from Montgomery, AL....as it adds a good 10 hours travel time to the total trip....

Nice pictures. I think he butterfly with the eyes is a cecropia moth. They're
beautiful and you got a great shot.

Kent,
Thanks for the correct ID on this striking moth. I have been meaning to research the critter to find out exactly what it is; I have never seen one before and have always wanted to learn more about them. Apperently, this moth is the largest in North America and only has a lifespan of 7 to 10 days because it has no mouth parts.
This one was in a bush with several Monarchs. I photographed several Monarchs with ID tags on them and sent the ID numbers along with date and location to the Monarch tracking site but never received a response. |
