I had to decide if I was going to add trim tabs, radar arch [for the sea kayak],hydraulic steering and some other things or just do a trade of sorts.

Since the back fusion last year, I have been on a doctors ordered mission to make my life more ergonomic - ie less bending to prevent need for another repair. I had planned to upgrade the Bimini with cockpit zippers, wanted a swim step, and radar arch [rather than central radar tower[ to make loading the sea kayak easier - on my back, trim tabs to smooth out the ride a little, - I hope, hydraulic steering, auto pilot for when I am solo and windlass. I decided it was more cost effective to look for boat already set up. so --

I was fortunate to be able to meet Lane and Patty and purchase their SunFish - with everything but the windlass- I actually felt sad - when I picked up the SunFish as I felt I was kidnaping a family member.

I did enjoy meeting them however and hope that I can get together with them so Lane can teach me about fishing, or more importantly just hang out on CDory.

I will post the sale details about Endurance-I in next post. Couldn't figure out how to add it to the right for sale column.

Jim

Jim
Congrats on the new to you boat. I have been on the Sun Fish with Lane at Lopez not long after he got it. It is a fine craft and well cared for.
Lane, if you're out there, don't be a stranger. I hope you still come to the CBGT.
Terry

Sounds like a wise decision, Jim. Hard to say goodbye to Endurance, though, but she'll please a new owner.

My apologies - I am traveling alot recently and away from boat to get the correct engine hours Will get back to you as soon as I get home - thanks for your patience. The hr meter is not real accurate per 2 separate mechanics and surveryor [last 3 years] as previous owner left key on in the ignition before I bought the boat and clock hrs continued. So I had the engine pressure tested - good compression. Also the bottom units are not leaking - had one pressure tested last year and have mechanics check fluid quality every 80 to 100 hrs when I change oil and lower unit gear lubes. engines start quickly - no problem with current fuels if I use Marine Stabil.

My mechanic Dudley at Pickering Marine said he has seen a lot of problems this summer rebuilding fuel injected engines that are very sensitive to alcohol. He has some interesting rubber gaskets from engines that have dissolved. He is very busy with this summer and has not had much fuel problem with the carburated engines.

If you are interested in purchase you can recheck engine compression - I just redid spark plugs, oil filter, oil, lower unit, fuel filter and the two Racors a while ago. Average about 4 nautical miles per gallon at 17-19 knots loaded with two people moderate camping gear, fuel and water - 24 gallons of fuel from Boston Harbor to Laconner [99 Nautical miles] and 33 gallons from US border Roche harbor back to Boston Harbor just N of Olympia - at upper cruising speeds.

The engines have never overheated - When I was looking at engines, Mechanic told me to look at the Honda engine covers - he can usually tell if they overheated by change in the sheen on the surface of the cover - they apparently loose the glossy shine right over the exhaust system in the back, but retain the shine in areas not effected by the heat.

Thanks for your interest -
Jim

Holy Cow, I am now a C-Dory owner! Two years of looking and I found the boat for me. Jim and I were cruising Puget Sound on Friday in the Endurance and I've now been home in Colorado for a couple of hours after an epic 3000 mile road trip.

I can't wait to go cruising in my new boat, but it may be awhile since I just finished using up my vacation. Retirement will be here soon and off we'll go to Alaska or some other exotic destination.

Thanks to Jim States for his wonderful hospitality and for parting with the Endurance. She has found a great new home and Emily and I will treat her like a baby.

Emily and Tony

We enjoyed our day together with you and look forward to seeing you again either on Lake Powell or in the Pacific N West.

After a little sorting - I found the new pivot repair kit parts, two sunbrella Honda engine covers and pot supports[I think thats what they are] for the Wallas stove - all will be shipped tomorrow.

Glad you are home safe - call anytime about questions.

Jim

Pat,

I was at Lake Powell on my houseboat about a week before you all arrived. I ended up seeing Jody in the parking lot as I was leaving and he was arriving. As soon as I got home, I got ahold of Jim and we ended up getting up to the Puget Sound area by that Friday. Next year I will do Lake Powell in a C-Dory for sure!

Tony
