Robbi - you're the cruise director, you pick! There will never be one weekend that works for everybody, so just do the best you can! Then Mike will make us a sign up sheet...

OK, The south sound Jarrell Cove weekend is set for March 18-20. Can we have a sign up sheet please?
I plan on getting to the dock on Friday AM, and if I can swing it, I will get some fire wood delivered by the "pilot" for the Saturday night potluck. If anyone plans on arriving Thursday, I will gladly join you.
I am thinking and beautiful calm waters. Robbi _________________ 2023 C-Dory 23 Venture Sport

Roberta, that date works for Buster and me. He's decided he'd like to stay home and stretch all 19 pounds upside down, tip to tip, on Daddy Cat's bed while I'm away.
Maybe I can launch Thursday like last year. Way to get that started, Robbi.

Catman, Sounds like Buster figured out how to use the can opener!
Jarrell Cove is the place to be in March. If the weather is half as good as today, it will be fabulous. Robbi |

Yes, breakfast in the beautiful berg of Allen. Actually, a nice little place at the head of Case inlet. If the weather is calm, I might just stop at Victor and fish for some cutthroat. It's one of my favorite spots and the tides are favorable. Robbi |

Robbi,
Not sure if we will go from Everett, I do like starcratfttom's spirit though. Is there a good launch at University Place? Des Moines has a sling launch, but they don't like bunk trailers. I don't really want to go to Olympia. _________________ Janet & Chris without CD22 Luna C

Redondo has a fairly nice launch. The lane through the parking area winds a little but I have seen some larger boats make it okay.

Janet and Chris, There are no launch ramps in University Place and for that matter the Tacoma area is far under served. You can launch at Tacoma right next door to the ferry slip to Vashon. There are two or three ramps, plus docks, but if the fishing is good on Sat or Sun it can be crowded and parking may be up the hill. If you plan to launch at non peak times it is fine. Not sure what the fees are for launching or parking. (I am not sure if you can leave your car over-night)
You could drive out onto the Key Peninsula and launch at Joemma State Park as Pat has mentioned.
Sounds like Redondo would also be a possibility.
I just called Narrows Marina which is on the Tacoma Narrows and they do have a ramp. I will go check it out and see if it has a dock. I know that it is limited at low tide. It costs $10 to launch and probably $1 a day to park. No idea if it is secure. I will let you know Mon or Tues. Robbi |

Robbi are you talking about the Launch at Day Island Marina? If so that is a viable one.. kind of a wierd set up, but works ok there. We launched there before joining TOA... my $.02 on Redondo is I will pay to sling at Des Moines(slick ,easy and nice folks there) before ever going to the Redondo Zoo again. Talk about Combat Launching! It is almost as bad as Point Defiance. _________________ Commodore Jim & Adm. Laurie

Hey All,
I hope to join in on this adventure. This will be my very first cruise on the new 16' cruiser, first time in the sound actually. If anyone is planning on launching on Friday afternoon with a return on Sunday, I would very much like to follow them on the trip.
For those of you using this schedule and a launch area near tacoma/olympia, please let me know.
Thanks,

Information on launching in Tacoma: Narrows Marina at 9007 S. 19th Street (near the Narrows Bridge) has a nice one lane ramp with plenty of dock space. It is very protected from the wind. They do run out of ramp at low tides. The costs are, to launch weekdays $6.00, overnight parking $3.00. Weekends, launch $10.00 and overnight $5.00. It is about 23 nautical miles to Jarrell Cove from there. I think Olympia is about 16 miles. Des Moines 38, and Port Orchard about 50.
There is also a nice launch ramp on Johnson Point which is between the Nisqually Reach and Olympia. It is at Zittel's Marina. It's about 12 miles to Jarrell Cove.
If anyone wants more information on these ramps, let me know and I will try to get it to you.
