Okay, maybe not so grand but fun!

I posted a few pictures from an outing on the Delta this weekend. I only saw one other C-Dory as they passed by.

The pictures are on page 2 of my album.

Steve,
You really caught the flavor of the true Delta, especially on a very windy weekend. Two questions:
1) Was that "Tule Tie" photo of your own lines? That is, did you grab a bunch of tule weeds and rope them into a post? Or was it already there?
2) Where is that swing bridge that only opened part way? That needs manual assistance? That's a new one on me.
The Delta has a special flavor, and you caught it---on a few days when most boaters were watching TV, or bowling......great stuff.

Hi Charles,

You have it right, that is my bow line and I just grabbed a bunch of tule and wrapped the line around them. I then bent the tops over and made another couple of wraps.

The swing bridge is on Connection slough. Not sure if I had ever been through there before. Connection is between Mandeville Island and Bacon Island.

Some of the names for the different Islands and sloughs are interesting. We also have a Rhode Island and Staten island.

Yeah, we launched in Rio vista last year, and came downriver to Suisun Bay. That wind was blowing and Journey On bounced. I guess when it gets hot inland, that pacific air really moves in to fill up the void.

The Delta is a bueatiful spot as you've shown.

Ssteve-

Nice photos and comments!

Makes me miss the old haunts!

The large size (about 2-1/2 miles by 2-1/2 miles, and square in shape) of Frank's Tract make for a fairly long fetch for the wind, and the shallow water really stacks up the chop and makes for a bouncy ride!

Lots of Hidey Holes for those who've been there enough to know it well, though!

Yup, all the Delta looks the same, basically, and you have to always keep track of where you are, although this isn't really an issue with a GPS anymore. Was always hard to tell one tule patch from another!

More than a few have gotten lost there before, though, and especially in the fog, either the real kind of fog, or the fog from drinking too much!

Kept my CD-22 at OxBow Marina near Isleton on Georgeanna Slough for several years before moving to Redding. Great place, if a little isolated in some ways.

Great Weekends on the Delta!

Fond memories!

I wonder how the boat prices and marinas are doing/surviving?

Joe. Teeth Thumbs Up
