I'm curious to see what folks have put in that 32x6 space behind the stove. Its incline is such that the top intrudes into the space a bit, but there's still plenty of room for a spice rack or the like. _________________ - john |

I put a poly drink holder/binoc rack in that I got at West Marine. The link for it can be found here. i'm sure I didn't pay more than $30-35 for it but it's currently listed at $99. Not worth that. It doesn't quite fill the space but for the effort (buy and glue down) it was nice. Many others have done better/nicer with custom jobs. The Anita-Marie (I believe) has a nice rack constructed with 2 square blocks of poly spanned by 3 stainless rods across the front. An image of this one (or maybe the one he copied it from...) can be found in the tech album under interiors, page 9 lower left. I've seen several other ideas in browsing the images in all the albums.

Yeah, this is really nifty. Same guy has an enviable array of hooks and racks all over the cabin.
I found a teak rack that fits nicely behind the wallas, but there's still wasted space, so I kept looking. I'm thinking about simply glueing some 3" rail to the counter and thereby using every last square inch of space. |

Hi CR, I keep a Radio-Shack AM/FM/dual cassette player there. Surprisingly, it does a remarkably good job. I think the cabin acts like a mini concert-hall. Pete _________________ Pete

I made a nice rack out of teak which holds spices, cd's, tissue, etc. It is on the MacNaughty photo album. I'd give you a link but I'm not a geek.

Roger - we had the very same Ikea stuff on Daydream - UNTIL we encountered some big water returning from Sucia to Bellingham last February. EVERYTHING - and I mean EVERYTHING, including the plastic bins - ended up on the floor. Now we have some wooden dealies there that are attached to the countertop with velcro. I guess I will take a few pix and put them up..

John-
We got the bins at IKEA.
Pat-
I mounted the bar on star-board (3 pieces) and installed the star-board with a screw through the cabin bulkhead. I tried the 5200, but it didn't hold. Holds great now. |

I finally went with the teak. Here's the finished product:
And yeah, that's velcro. I thought I'd see how I liked it first. (Translation: and so it shall the "temporary fix" remain forever.) |
