|
|
The carpet on our trailer bunks have developed a few small holes, we would like to patch instead of replacing all carpet. I did a search and had no luck, so am asking for advise on the best way to approach this problem. Thanks in advance for any help or advise. |

Flip - easy solution for your problem. When you talk about holes in the bunk carpet, of course that varies. Since most bunks are wooden planks small holes up to an inch in diameter can be punched with a leather punch tool in the carpet, leaving a clean circle of exposed wood. Punch out a carpet circle, apply waterproof contact cement on the wood, and press the carpet in place. If done correctly, you won't be able to see the patch. If the worn or torn piece is irregular, cover the area with the patch so there is some overlap, and then with a super sharp knife cut through both the patch and the old carpet making sure your patch is not shifting while you are cutting. It doesn't matter if your cut is crooked because the patch contours will fit the newly exposed wood area. Small cuts or indentations in the wood will cause no harm. Monel staples are great as they dont rust . The Leather Punch is a great idea . Contact cement needs to be coated on both surfaces and needs to be dry to work as designed ,
