I've just been watching the afternoon news reports of the flooding and avalanches in Western Washington. Some of the towns affected are known C-Brat hometowns, Orting, Snoqualmie, Arlington to name a few.

I'm sure I'm not alone when I say to any Brat displaced by this event, PM or e-mail me. We have 2 guest rooms and more available nearby. Rain has been negligible here in Sequim as usual.

Be careful out there!

Roger,
Let me be the first to say thankyou for your kind offer. Toni and I have the pumps going and have family close by if there is an emergency, the danger should pass after tomorrow. We have flood insurance also so...
It warms my heart to be associated with good people like you and so many others in our group. Hope to see you at the Seattle boat show gathering in a few weeks.

Hi Roger and Janet,
I haven't showered in 3 weeks due to the 2 feet of snow we've had and now with all this rain, I'm ready to get outta here. I'll be at your house in one hour! Thanks a bunch!

P. S. I also haven't eaten in 2 1/2 weeks so get ready for me.... Mr. Green

Seriously, Thanks Roger for the invite. We are doing fine. Carol is on the other side of the river at the moment but there apparently is still one lane open to get home.
I've been awake since 0545 HRS. and standing by at our volunteer fire dept. Two of us carried one fellow out of his travel trailer this morning in knee deep water that had surrounded him. Just prior to reaching him we watched a small cabin being swept down the creek. (I'm guessing the cabin has already swept past Roger's (Sensei) house in Stanwood by now).
We've been keeping our Fire Department Hovercraft busy all day and currently are evacuating folks up in the Darrington area. We've also been receiving a small number of calls about landslides and have checked them out.

(I did make it home briefly after carrying the fellow out of his trailer and managed to get a shower and we've also brought in a small flock of fried chicken to eat, so we are really not suffering).

Thank you again for your very generous offer!

I'll second Roger's offer - we've got a guest room also - just PM me. Kenmore isn't in the rain shadow but we're not near a river and I'm 300' above sea level so if it floods here, build an ark.

Well the Passes are all closed, I-5 is closed and there is still more rain to come. Edmonds ferry is still running and the Canal bridge is open. Come on over. I'm with Roger, we can provide some room and and a place to dry out. We have family and friends over there in the flooding and nobody wants to leave home. Our prayers are with you all.

Things have calmed down momentarily around here. We just ended the low tide (which was a minus tide). The next high tide will be a 12 foot tide at 0430 HRS. We are expecting increased flooding to occur around here as the higher tide coupled with the ongoing constant rain and all of the snow melt that has occurred today around here and in the hills above us cause the river to swell further.

Although, the State DOT is still allowing one lane of traffic on SR 530 from Arlington towards us, we anticipate that to shut down in a few hours.

We have one Medic Unit with crew from town parked at our Volunteer F.D. as well as two Jet Outboard powered boats and our Hovercraft all hitched up and ready to go again.

It is amazing how quickly the snow has melted here today with the warmer temperatures and the constant downpour of rain.

For us personally, our place is in no danger as we are on a hill. However, other folks that reside in our fire district next to Jim Creek and both the North Fork of the Stillaguamish and the South Fork of the Stillaguamish are not as fortunate.

Any moment I expect to see the FD Dolphins in the fields near the rivers... Rolling Eyes

COME ON SUMMER!!!! Hot Hot Hot

Hey Dave
I havn't seen that cabin float past but the powers that be have called for a voluntary evacuation of Stanwood in and about the town. we live out side city limits so we have not been called yet. I am not too worried about it tho.
I am more worried about the Skagit river here. that is where the flooding came from in the early 50's

Likewise we are high and dry at 200+ ft on Whidbey so if any of our lowland fellow Brats need help of any kind you are more than welcome as long as the water doesn't reach the top of Deception pass!!

Take care,

Merv & Kathy

We've had our annual road slide near our place. I was driving into work this morning thinking "with all this rain it's amazing the hillside hasn't slid down."

Spoke too soon. As I got near work the "Road Closed" signs were up. To reach us one has to come in from the West (Gorst) side. But we are here, installing motors on boats for the show.

What motors? Ah, that would be telling....

I guess I'll put in my experience the last couple days ... We are at a higher spot in Puyallup and at the top of our cul-de-sac, so we are ok.... Tuesday night I ran my new,as of Monday night, run from Fife, Wa to Hermiston, Oregon and back. It is what we call a "turn run" i.e. out and back during the same shift ... anyway I made it over Snoqualmie Pass ok, got to Ellensburg and was detoured off of I-82, and had to take SR821 through the Ellensburgh Canyon to Yakima. That was due to the high winds that wrecked some trucks on I -82.
It was pretty windy back on I-82 to Hermiston., It reminded of trucking in my beloved native state of Wyoming. I made it to Hermiston, made my double trailer switch with the Boise driver ,and found out that Snoqualmie Pass was closed behind me due to avalanche, so I had to return via I-84 to Portland then North on I-5 to Tacoma. I left Fife originally at 8:15 p.m. and got back at 7:30 a.m. the next day-604 miles in 11.5 hrs. Just another day at the office.
At least I am home and not stuck like some of our guys. I didn't run last night of course since Fife was evacuated including our new terminal, and the passes are still closed along with I-5. So it looks like another night at home.

roger,
linda and i have experienced terrible weather, here in the ohio valley. at least one inch of snow on the ground, with as much as another half inch to follow. probably need to take you up on your fine offer. should be there later this evening. would prefer smothered onions on my medium well, filet mignon. i am lactose intolerant, therefore would greatly appreciate a finer bottle of wine.
can't thank you enough, however, having said that, would appreciate using your boat while being a guest in your house.
see ya soon!

We were cut off from Arlington this morning by flood waters over SR 530 at the Lincoln Bridge next to town. Therefore, Carol followed me down the Jordan Road through Granite Falls in order for each of us to get to our respective work locations.

The hovercraft has been out several times already this morning getting folks out of their flood entrapped homes.

I'm at my full time Fire Dept. job now and we just completed filling about 100 sandbags. We are awaiting the delivery of more sand and sandbags for us to have available. The Pilchuck River is out of its' banks in several locations. (As are all the other creeks and rivers.... Rolling Eyes )

And the rain continues....... Disgust
