Has anyone found or jimmied good rubber covers for the wing terminals on the battery to prevent sparks if the anchor chain was ever to touch down there (scary thought)?

dont know of cover you can buy, but you might try liquid rubber. its a product that you can paint on. its made for uses like this.

Thanks, that would probably work well, since I won't be undoing them very often...

Marine stores sell rubber boots in red and black to cover the battery terminals. Its best to replace the wing nuts with hex nuts and tighten with a wrench which is too short to reach both terminals and cause a short. Shorting battery terminals can cause the battery to explode.

A battery box with a full top cover works well too.... Thumbs Up

I think I still have the rubber ones that came with my new batteries....I don't use them as my batteries are totally sperate....I will be glad to give em to you if you will send me your mailing address....or I think I have seen some at West Marine ..... I don't like the darn wing nuts...they can come loose...and I now have a blown recifier on one motor caused by a loose terminal.... I will from now on...use nuts that I can get a wrench on....no more wing nuts...
