What is the best windlass out there for under a grand. I would like to buy one for the 22. Anyone out there have one they love? Anyone have one they would like to see go down with the hook. Thanks in advance for any help. I did see some of the older post but maybe there have been some change of hearts. |

Most are using the Lewmar 700 Pro fish. You don't hear many complaints about them. I have two with no problems. _________________ Bob Austin

Agree with Bob on the Lewmar. I have a Powerwinch I would like to see go to the bottom. Right now it is in the garage. I wouldn't even use it as a spare. _________________ Tom

I have a Lewmar V700 and am quite happy with it. I'd buy it again. Easy to install too! _________________ Patti and Barry

purchased a lewmar horizon 600 today. Found a guy locally that was getting his boat repossessed. $200 for the windlass 200' of rode and a 22lb danforth. Do not know what to do with that ship anchor. He also had a $8000 raymarine electronics setup for $2500. Would like to have that to but I do not feel like getting kicked out the house. On the other hand I could just live in the Dory |

I purchased a Breeze Windlass that is made downunder. It has been in service on two boats for 4 years now. I broke the tension arm on it and contacted the company that builds them in Australia and they had the replacement part to me in 3 days. If it takes a crap tomorrow then I would replace it with another just like it. I paid $350.00 US and it is available with either stainless or poly material gypsy. I chose the poly for use with rope rode and 15 feet of chain.
