Does anyone know the approximant trailer tongue weight of a CD 16 cruiser? I have looked thru the forums but not located anything. I am trying to decide if my Toyota Highlander is suitable for a 800 mile drive to bring back a CD 16 I may buy. My other option is my F150 and a higher gas bill.

Thanks,
Kevin

I don't know the tongue weight. If the Highlander has the 3.4 L V-6 base engine you will have plenty of power to pull the trailered 16 footer essentially anywhere.

Tongue weight is determined by how the boat is set-up on the trailer and can be adjusted by moving the C/G of the boat back and forth over the axel of the trailer (S/B at least 100 lbs). My new 5 cyln. Colorado does great pulling the Pocket Yacht.

We looked at the toyota when buying our Pilot. what year Highlander do you have The 05-06 had the 3.3 v-6 or the 2.4 4 cyl.the tow rating was 3500lb for the v-6 and 3000lb for the 4cyl.

The c-d16 weighs 875-950 lb , eng about 250lb and trailer about 500lb .So you are looking at less then 2000lb .As far as the tougue wt this can be manipulated by moving the winch stand a few inches one way or another. About 200lb would give you 10% .

use the Toyota save gas Good luck on your trip

I used to pull mine with a toyota 4x4 with the old 4 cylinder and it did it without a problem. Tongue weight seems to be around 150 to 160 pounds.

Our 16' Cruiser is loaded but we've had no problems towing with a 3.5L Jeep Liberty (3000-3500 lb max tow weight). Your Toyota Highlander will do just fine even on hilly roads.

Stopping is always the hard part. Sounds like it's not an issue from the feedback so fare, I think the Jeep Liberty is a good comparative vehicle to the Highlander. I was curious about the tongue weight just so I would know about how much sag to expect. Thanks for the feedback
