Chris - Are you up for dinner tomorrow evening? I'll try to get there a little earlier this year. Lucky will taking the train to Santa Barbara on Friday.

Yep...thought we would cruise over to the Port Royal for dinner and listen to some of that great music that Joel loves so much! I'll be in the area mid afternoon.

Does Susan know where she is in the order of things here?

Sadly, Pat and I have to work tomorrow- we'll be down after work, around 7:00.

Talked with Bob and he is clearing the docks so we will have room to tie up.

Roger

You are invited to visit NOAA Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary's research vessel SHEARWATER this Saturday, October 11, 2008 for dockside tours from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm.

The SHEARWATER is a 62' catamaran that conducts research, education, public outreach, maritime heritage, and emergency response-related operations for Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary. The SHEARWATER spends over 180 days at sea each year, with as many as 100 of those days dedicated to the long-term monitoring of Marine Protected Areas.
In addition to vessel tours, there will be a variety of activities at the Santa Barbara Harbor & Seafood Festival.

We will be meeting at the usual location-- Anacapa Yacht Club/Catalina Yacht Anchorage dock.

We will be eating breakfast around 0730 - 0800 and departing the Harbor around 0900.

Santa Ana winds coming. Cooling first, then winds and warming. That's what I read. Does this mean we want to keep breakfast early and brief and get under way in a timely fashion? And I guess a tailwind coming home Sunday?

Well folks, it seems that life has thrown another pie in my face at the last minute and I'm going to have to cancel out on joining you all for the Santa Barbara gathering. Crook
If anyone was hoping to join the group but was unable to get their dock reservations in time, please make use of mine with my best wishes for a wonderful weekend. Thumbs Up
Have a great time and tip one for me. Beer

Weather's handing us a bummer. Small Craft Warnings for tomorrow through Saturday. Winds 10-15 early, 15-25 later with higher gusts. Seas 4-6, 11 secs. Never know what it's going to look like when we get outside, as the forcasts are for the Santa Barbara Channel, and that includes the "windy lane", which is always the worst. It may, or may not, be calmer closer in. I was really hoping for a calm ride.....Muffin does not like it rough.....gets scared and wants to be up in my lap. I would trailer up but my transmission lost 3rd gear a couple of days ago, and is in the shop in Ventura. I'm driving a loaner Trail Blazer. We'll see in the morning.

Well, I don't guess I want to deliberately go out into small craft warnings. I'm now thinking of trailering up to Lake Silverwood tonight, fishing in the morning, and heading over to Santa Barbara on the trailer to join you guys and use my slip reservations for Friday and Saturday nights. I'd like to see the gang, pick up my hatch covers, visit a while, and do the AYC lunch on the way home.

Are most people still going?

I was first thinking of Casitas or Cachuma, but the Quagga Mussel procedures there look prohibitive. I couldn't find any information about restrictions at Silverwood.

One possible negative to this trip plan is that I'd be driving right past the Bass Pro Outlet store in Rancho Cucamonga. That could be expensive.

Good news, I think. My truck is ready with a rebuilt tranny. Going to pick it up tonight, so I now have the option tomorrow of trailering up to Santa Barbara. See everyone at the Landing tomorrow bright & early.
