I want to echo Pat's comments about Lake Powell. This was a great cruise. Thanks Chris for organizing it and thanks Bill for all the geology lessons. I also want to thank Rockytop Roger for treating everyone to views of Jupiter through his telescope, and pointing out the International Space Station as it crossed over our campfire. All in all a fantastic cruise. We are still on the road headed home. Yesterday we towed CAVU across Death Valley and really got some strange looks. The temperature on my truck display showed 112 degrees when we crossed. The worst part was the climb out to the west-I was down to second gear at 40 mph and the engine temp was just below the red line. We topped out without having to stop and spent the night in the cool air near Mono Lake, Ca. _________________ Ken Trease

OK, all my pix have been moved to the official Cruises and Events Lake Powell 2008 album, so the prior link is now broken, and since I can't edit the prior message, I guess I should mention this fact! _________________

Laurie and I were diapointed that we couldn't spend time with the group while we were at Lake Powell. The lower unit on our port motor seized after a seal blew and we decided the best course of action was to get Water Lillie back on the trailer since we'd already been on the lake two and a half weeks. We were able to exchange a few words with Bill and El on their way to Rainbow Bridge. Chris was already up canyon and we missed him.
I've posted a few pics of our trip on flickr. http://www.flickr.com/photos/10169992@N03/ |

"At 5 PM Saturday while headed back to Las Vegas from Orange County on I 15 about midway between Barstow and Baker I spotted a southbound C Dory -- boat hauler had a kayak on the roof. "
That would have been us headed back from Lake Powell!
We did not follow the group on all of their travels but we did enjoy Lake Powell and enjoyed when we got together with the group.
This was our longest trip and time on our CD22. We started with Yellowstone and did the Grand Western Loop of Yellowstone, Tetons, Flaming Gorge, and Lake Powell with a trip to Bryce Canyon thrown in.
In addition to a lot a great views, interesting geology, wild animals, and fun times it was meeting many other fun and interesting C-Dory owners. Karen especially enjoyed meeting and spending time with other C-Dory women and is now more receptive to doing other longer trips.
Thanks to all,
Steve and Karen |

We just checked out the photos of the cruise - brought big ol' smiles to our faces! Lake Powell is one of our favorite places, and it would be a treat to see it with an additional 25 feet of water in it... always something different to see.
Thanks for taking the time to post your images, folks - looks like a very good time was had by all.
Best wishes,
Jim & Joan |

You're welcome...as of right now, those are all my images, all 110 of them! Can't you tell by the number of pictures of Baxter?

Ok I think I've got the problem with the mice boarding solved. This should do the trick. As the first mouse come up the rope he or she will be caught by one of the traps. This will make that side of the trap heavy and will rotate to the bottom and expose the next two traps. When the next little bugger trys it will get caught in the next trap. Now one trap on each side has a scare crow in it and this should stop them, but just in case if another trys it will get caught in the next trap and will be heavy again it will rotate and expose the next trap. In the morning you will have proof that the little rascals tried and failed to get on board.

Great idea Jody!
Yes we had a mouse visit our boat in Mountain Sheep canyon. We have not seen any evidence that he stayed onboard. I guess the ctitter was not partial to beans and rice.

The ones I had onboard seemed to like choclate chip cookies. I guess one could also backup the traps with a frisbee for extra security. |

Indeed, Pat... and it's been too long since we've been there. I can vouch that a CD-25 fits in there perfectly. Nice hosts, aren't they?

Awesome album. Fantastic rock formations and especially the ancient dwellings. Really appreciate you all sharing this trip.
Curious what the water temps were and the day air temps, (high & low). Looked plenty warm to me.
