Has anyone installed a manual or electric marine head in their C-19 or C-22 with a holding tank and overboard discharge?

I have had various marine heads with the related thru-hulls, valves, hoses, electrical hookups and holding tanks. They ALL had problems. If you see someone beating a waste hose on the dock, they are beating out the built-up salt/pee crud that plugged it up..probably in the middle of a dinner party.

I have also had several porta-pottis. Never a problem.

Bottom line: DON'T DO IT!

Have fun out there....

We did see a custom factory built CD-22 with a head in the space normally occupied by the galley to the rear of the starboard side of the cabin a few years ago when attending the Seattle Boat Show and C-Brat Get Together.

The boat was at the factory (where the Saturday night party is held), but we didn't get a chance to look inside at the details.

The simple answer is that to install such a head and holding tank, etc., an area about three feet by three feet must be converted over out of the dinette or galley area.

Most folks would rather keep the dinette and galley, and use a Porta-Potti, either in the v-berth area, or outside in the cockpit with a canvas enclosure.

A composting head, like the AirHead, would eliminate most all of the plumbing and simplify the installation. Do search of AirHead and see what Pat and Patty Anderson have to say about it. They're enthusiastic about its prformance on their CD-25.

Which brings us to the point that to have the full head (usually including a shower),a galley, a dinette, the helm, a v-berth and a decent sized cockpit, one needs to have a 25 foot boat in which to arrange all these components.

If you start out with a 19 or a 22, then add an enclosed head, something else on the list has to go.

Trade in the cd-19 and buy the cd-25 or stay with the cd-19 and keep the porta -potti . the potti is the easiest way to go . empty at any bathroom or pumpout station .You can always buy another one if it breaks or you want to change the color .Tell your wife or girlfriend to get over it or use that to buy the bigger boat cd-25

One of the 22 owners has put in a head on the port side--there are photos available. I would not recommend it.

I agree with most responding.A porta-potty is simple, cheap, has no odor, and can be emptied almost anywhere. Learn to use it with out paper(put it in a baggie) and dumping gets much easier.
