Hey you 'Bama guys, I didn't know that Florence Alabama had it's own Craigs List section.
I could see the Jenny B tied up there or even here...! _________________ Mary & Don Anderson

New to the Brats, but not the Tennessee. Locking through can cause tremendous delays. Eight days may be a bit ambitious. _________________ Allen & Genie |

Larry, Stlofa is correct in that the dams can cause long delays. As I remember about 2.5 hours has been my longest delay on these dams. If you monitor the radio you can get around traffic at times. The longer tows these days do cause more delays because more have to break down and take two turns. Your 600+ trip with 10 dam locks will keep you on the move. There will not be a lot of time to explore the points of interest mentioned. Just watch for logs although I don't think C-Brats run up the river at 45 mph like my son-in-law did last week for an $8000 repair job.
You have a great trip planned and I hope to hear from you. Have a great time. Ron _________________ Ready to go with the '85 22' Classic |

Our longest wait last fall was 2.5 hours, and the shortest was basically no wait.
We'd considered asking my brother, or my dad, to take our truck and trailer down river. That's asking alot, and would add quite a bit of fuel expense to the trip.
So...we'll do what we can in the time allowed, and pick up again in the fall.
I have your phone number Ron, we'll give you a call if we indeed make it that far.
Thanks!

Larry and Jo,
We were at the Goosepond Marina on Saturday, July 5th when you went by. A friend spotted Thelma Lou and called me by cell to tell me that he saw a C Dory heading down river near Goosepond Marina MM 378 RDB at around 2:30 pm. I tried to call you on CH 16 but you were out of range or your VHF may not have been on. Sorry we missed you. Let us know where you stopped along the way.
Catch us at Ditto Landing on the return trip if you get a chance.

We heard you Richard, faint at first, tried to reply, tried several more times downstream. Oh well, we missed Rob too...passed him up both ways before we knew that we had.
We "just" got home....had a GREAT trip!
More later.

Hi,
Some folks on this string have a lot of knowledge about Tenn.
Can someone help we this question -----
How far east in Tenn can you go on the navigable waterway (and still get to the route to Mobile Bay)?
I know you can get to Knoxville, but can you get all the way to Lake Watuga?
thanks

You should check out Halcyon's trips in tenn. We own land on Tellico lake in Vonore you can go about another 20 miles or so to the chilhowee small dam . Also you can go up Ft. Loudon lake up past Knoxville . The three big lakes of Norris ,Cherokee, and Douglass are not connected to the TVA system. Go to (Knoxlakes .com ) this will show the lakes that are connected . Thanks
Knoxlakes is a good site.
Do you keep you boat docked at your property on Tellico?
I saw a development on-line on Watts Bar lake near Rockwood -- but pretty pricey.
thanks
