I have never owned a boat before, but saw a R-21EC over the 4th of July and fell in love. We were visiting friends who have an American Tug, so we already love the "tug" look. The R-21EC seems like a great size to start out with. I guess we are on the two year plan when it comes to purchasing our tug. Just today we signed up for a 9 week boating safety course that starts this fall.

I will probably lurk and learn as much as I can. Any magazine or book suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I hope we can join your ranks sooner than later!!

Moria- Welcome to the C-Brats. Here's a fellow in your neighborhood who recently purchased a 21EC

Moria,
Another welcome to the C-Brats. There are numerous suggestions for magazines/books that others have recommended in the past. Just "click" on "search" in the header above and type in the word magazine and/or books and numerous threads will pop up that you can scan through. You will most certainly locate more reading material than you will have time to read before you purchase your new vessel.... Laughing .

Also, if you "click" on "Forums" in the header, you will find many many more interesting and informative threads that have been created over the years the C-Brats have been in existence.

My wife and I purchased an R21-EC last year and are absolutely in love with it! Unbelievable fuel economy and the little boat handles pretty serious water. Very comfortable for two to stay aboard, especially over a weekend.

We are most anxious to take our boat out for an extended trip, but can't find the time it takes. I don't believe you could go wrong with the R21 EC.

There is a great article attached to the company website about three fellows that made the inside passage in three of these boats. Good luck and hopefully sooner!

Moria,

'Glad to hear you've found a boat you like. I too am enamored with the salty looks of the EC 21, but I don't think I could get along long term with the slow cruising speed limit. Most times I don't go much faster, but in an emergeny would want a bit more.

Just to be certain about this area, you ought to visit closely with some long term owners to understand the tug's performance niche and decide if that's your cup of tea.

Good luck,

John
