I'm trying to find the Coast Guard Certificate for the TC255 that specifies the maximum weight limit & number of passengers legal. I can't find the info online or in the packet that came with my boat. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks,

Warren,
Is this the same information that is shown on the capacity sticker usually located near the helm? _________________ Larry H

My Vessel Safety Check Manual states that "there is no capacity plate on a boat under 20 feet" (I think what that means is that it is not required, as I believe there is one on the 22, but I can't remember for sure.) "The following formula can be used to determine the maximum number of persons that can be safely carried in calm water".
Boat length X boat width / by 15 = number that can be carried safely in calm waters.
Given this your boat can safely carry 14 people in calm water. Where you would put them I have no idea. Why you would want 14 people on a boat holds me clueless also. _________________ David and Kate

I researched this extensively back when they came out with their "updated" owners manuals for all their boats (with wrong information about capacity, etc.).
From Tom Broschart (C-Dory engineer):
> 12 persons or 1800 lbs - means the weight for
> persons and gear.
Boats under 20' do not require a USCG capacity plate.
The most I've taken aboard at once was 7. 5 in the pilot house and 2 in chairs in the cockpit. _________________ Captain Matt

My questions also but we may have 8 people on board for SeaFair. Like you say, where to put them? But that is the Admiral's problem, I just drive the boat (and worry about safety issues)...
